Deep fluffy sea level snow - so rare in Greater Vancouver - can be fun. (the pic is from last year, actually, but we had similar fun on Sunday)

Pretty brutal in Vancouver and Burnaby tonight. Just pouring snow and all the roads, even the main ones, are covered. I even had to turn off Kingsway because cars were sliding out on a small hill (just east of Nanaimo Rd.). Even if a route is less ideal, as long as you can keep moving, it's better than having to stop.

Pretty Suprised there was no School out here (UBC) monday, and living in Rez. made it more interesting (Cafeteria basicly put everything parishable out) but even though some people think tonight will bring the same trouble Sunday Night did, I think I will be trudging to school tomorrow morning.

It's a "warm" -12 in Calgary right now, and we will get up to -3 tomorrow afternoon, so I will have to do some jogging in shorts & t-shirt. Warm & cold is somewhat relative, I'm learning.

Forecasters here are in consensus that by midnight we are going to get rain yet right now, it is 0 and we have snow coming down bad here. We are under storm advisory here on the peninsula to get freezing rain and then rain.

I've spent the entire day dealing with a glacier that formed on the side of our house, spread over the sundeck, running down and encasing our basement door, and melting through walls and ceilings into the basement. Chipping, hammering, pouring hot water, mopping... I wish I could say this weather meant a romp in the snow with puppies, but, oh well...

Just when I thought we had nearly missed the snowfall we recieved on Saturday, which only gave us 2 inches. We got a bit of a slap overnight last night, and now have a little over half a foot of snow. The good news is, it's still -6, and it's expected we won't get the Spring thaw like Vancouver is expected to.

We're not the only ones:) news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061202/ap_on_re_us/wintry_weatherI'm not sure we're all that bad with the snow in BC. Sure, we don't get it so often, so we're not as used to living with it as the rest of Canada. But getting the amount we did in one day on Sunday is a lot no matter where you live. The fact we get it so rarely is why we don't have enough snow clearing equipment to deal with it. It's not worth it for the amount we get. Back east, they're better at clearing the snow off the roads and they probably do it faster.

Yikes, I'd hate to shovel the snow off of that driveway. I'm still feeling it from Sundays dump, with the 8 inches we got.....A big heavy and powerful snowblower wouldn't make it as bad I guess. Do you ever shovel the snow off of your roof, Jim? The snow must be really stressfull on the tresses.

Snow can either stress your tress or struss your truss.
It depends....
