State Rooms & Conference Room Reservations Posted December 07, 2006 Tsawwassen - Southern Gulf Islands Beginning today, Thursday, December 7th, BC Ferries will be accepting reservations for state rooms and one conference room on the Queen of Nanaimo. State rooms can hold approximately four people and are equipped with a table and seating. The conference room offers a boardroom table and chairs and can accommodate up to ten people. Both state rooms and the conference room are located on Deck 5 and removed from regular passenger traffic to ensure privacy and minimal noise. Prices for reserving a state room or the conference room are as follows: State Room Conference Room $15.00 per room $40.00 per reservation Customers interested in reserving either a state room or the on-board conference room in advance can do so by calling BC Ferries Customer Service at 1-888-BC FERRY. Customers on-board can book rooms through the Passages Gift Shop. The Queen of Nanaimo will be returning to service mid-December between Tsawwassen and the Southern Gulf Islands. BC Ferries is proud to continue providing our customers with improved on-board facilities and services I'm surprised they haven't been advertising these amenities since the original major refit about a year ago, as they were in-place back then. I took these photos months ago during the open house that promoted the introduction of the Queen of Nanaimo after her major refit. Stateroom:

The staterooms are probably on all of the 7 sisters and the Tsawwassen and Sidney. They just aren't used anymore since they don't run the mainline routes frequently.

the state rooms were there before the refit. Granted, but these are new and improved super-deluxe versions of the old, right? And BCFS missed months of potential revenue since improving and changing them to such an extreme degree; that's not the BCFS I know and love.

Morning Sailing Added December 18 - 22 Posted December 15, 2006
From Monday, December 18 to Friday, December 22 on a trial basis, BC Ferries is pleased to offer an additional early morning sailing departing Shingle Spit at 7:00 am.
This added sailing is in recognition of the challenges facing Hornby Island passengers travelling to Vancouver Island while the relief vessel is in service on the Buckley Bay/Denman Island route.
It is hoped this measure will shorten possible delays during the pre-Christmas week.
BC Ferries thanks the Denman/Hornby Island Ferry Advisory Committee for their work in bringing forward recommendations for improvements to the temporary schedule, as submitted by the residents of Denman and Hornby Islands.

It's a reasonable decision. Also, this is probably a commuter route, so early morning sailings would be good for those who commute to the Island for work

Spirit of British Columbia Annual Refit, Jan. 8 - Feb. 9 Posted January 03, 2007 Queen of Esquimalt Replacement Vessel
The Spirit of British Columbia will be out of service on the Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay route for annual refit from Monday, January 8 through Friday, February 9 inclusive.
During this refit period, the Queen of Esquimalt will be the replacement vessel. The Queen of Esquimalt is a smaller vessel with reduced capacity for cars and commercial vehicles. Commercial operators please note that the Queen of Esquimalt has a height clearance of 13'6'' as compared to the 15'1'' height clearance on the Spirit class vessel.
To avoid possible overloads at peak sailing times, customers are encouraged to plan ahead by making a reservation or by arriving early at the terminal for their desired sailing. In particular, the first sailing of the day from Tsawwassen is expected to be busy.
The Queen of Esquimalt will be sailing on the following schedule:
Leave Tsawwassen 7:00am 11:00am 3:00pm 7:00pm
Leave Swartz Bay 9:00am 1:00pm 5:00pm 9:00pm
BC Ferries looks forward to returning the Spirit of British Columbia to service on Saturday, February 10.
hmm I though the Queen of Vancouver was gonna be the replacement ship.

Heh heh, you snooze, you lose! Anyways, I was wondering.......should the Mods put this thread into the vault of locked up threads, to be service notices of 2006? Just so we can start fresh in 2007 with a new "BC Ferries Bulletin Board" thread......This one is getting a bit lengthy.....
