I've got a request. I know the route numbers and the corresponding route descriptions have been posted before, but I was wondering if a thread could be created in the Rules, Reasons and Recommendations section with this info for reference. In addition, it would be cool if photos of the major terminals with a description of which berth is which could be posted. Might help me wrap my head around the significance of some of the closures and modifications. Fortunately we've just created a new Q&A area for just such a reason, as a new Sub-Board in the General Discussion part of the forum. I'll work on a couple new threads to meet your request and post the link here once finished. Cheers, Graham Here's a new thread for questions about route numbers and their corresponding terminals: ferriesbc.proboards20.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=qa&thread=1169492191&page=1I will work on gathering some of my terminal photos and uploading to my photobucket site for a thread with views of the terminals, but this will take longer.

I suppose we could create a "skin" just for you:) I don't like background pictures myself - too cluttered.

BTW, for people with the problem of Daylight Savings Time, that can be manually adjusted in your preferences.
Click profile at the top of the page, then click modify profile.
At the bottom of that page, you should see a DST option area that is set to no, set it to yes and you are now on DST.

Now here's a thought, and I don't know if it is even possible...sub-board specific banners. That way us lowly non West Coasters can have our own "private little region" to terrorize, and you won't have to listen to us sniveling and crying because you won't let us put our wonderful boats from "over here" on the main banner.

Sorry, I've checked and I don't think it's possible. However, I will use my influence to make sure that for 1 or 2 or 3 months of the year we will have some non-BC Ferries photographs in our forum banner. Maybe even as early as May 2007.. we'll see!

We've been talking about a name change with this forum to include some association with the Washington State side of the board. Does anyone want to change the name of this or keep it the way it is?

I think we should just start calling the forum "West Coast Ferry Forum" or West Coast Ferries" because John is eventually gonna come out with a new site. Personally, I agree with what Jordan said in calling this the West Coast Ferry Forum or West Coast Ferries. My thought would be Ferries of the West Coast Forum

Has anyone encountered this?
I'm not getting all the recent posts listed on the main page. I think they're all on the individual categories pages, but some are missing from the main one. Never encountered that before. Any ideas?

Has anyone encountered this? I'm not getting all the recent posts listed on the main page. I think they're all on the individual categories pages, but some are missing from the main one. Never encountered that before. Any ideas? Here's something that we can agree on: I have encountered that too. What happens for me, is on the main-page, it sometimes shows "no recent posts" for the "BC Ferries General Discussion" page, when in fact there are current-day's posts there. I think it is because of the presence of the sub-board on that general-discussion page. That's just my hunch, since the general-BCF-discussion page is the only one with a sub-board. So, I always go into the BCF-general-discussion page anyways, just to look for new posts......because I don't trust the system. (yeah, I know what you folks are wondering: Is it a moderator-competancy issue, or just a moderator-training issue? In my case, it's both... ;D) I didn't set up this sub-board, and I'm not a veteran pro-boarder, so I don't really know how it's supposed to work.....or if this is a common problem. Just now, I went through the various admin-menus looking for a setting that might be related to this problem. Alas, I found none.

Problem? I think of it more as a feature that is unavailable.

I put the sub-board up but I think I might just remove it as they are posts that can go in General Discussion. But I'll wait a day or two for a little feedback on this idea if there is any.

A suggestion:
Seaspan is the second biggest ferry company in BC, and there's Seaspan stuff in bits and pieces all over this forum, but no real designated place for news/ topics/ photos.
How about taking the existing "intermodal ferries" thread, re-naming it "all things Seaspan" or something, and placing it at the top of the 'bc' ferries section? I know Seaspan isn't a big topic, but I think it deserves at least a dedicated thread, in a more prominent place.
Just an idea. No problem if it doesn't seem worth doing.

Done. "All things Bright and Seaspan, all creatures great and small" thread is now sticky'd at the top of the "BC" page.
Good idea.

A Suggestion: This Doesn't need to be done if many members disagree...
I feel it might be easier to find certain topics if they were organized into their own sub boards, Take the "Northwest US Ferries" Section for example, I feel that the Alaska and Washington State Ferry Discussion topics Should be put separated into sub boards. Other Sections I feel need this too.
"North America and Abroad" Separate into Continents "Travelling on Ferries Section" Make the 3 Sections Here Sub Topics and Move them in with the Ferries of BC section as "Travelling on Ferries" " "bc" ferries" Separate it into 2 Sub Boards, Inland Ferries and Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland "Retired Ferries and Old Coastal Ships"...This One Is Self Explanitory. "Non Ferries" Maybe add a Sub Board for All Other Transportation
There are Many Other Sections That Could Be Organized But I Don't want to make this a difficult task for the Mods.
Could I Have Some Feedback on this Suggestion?

The default skin has been changed to the 'Restyled' Westcoast Ferries theme...
If you wish to revert back to the 'westcoastferries.ca' theme while logged-in, you may do so through your Modify Profile option...

You will probably already notice that all staff members are colour coded. Admin=red, Gmod=Orange (except Fluge), and Mods are Green. Oh and Dan is Purple for particular reason.
