So seeming the chances of us ever being able to go for a trip on the Esquimalt are quite slim (you never know, she could pull a fast one), I'm thinking we should take advantage of the 2 remaining V's. I haven't been on the Saanich or Vancouver for 2 years now, and am anxious for a few more trips on them before they're gone.
Each time I go on one of the Ferries that is about to be retired soon, I try to get as much video footage on it as possible, so that one day I'll be able to throw it on to a DVD. I have lots of footage of the Esquimalt, but only footage of the Vancouver and Saanich going through Active Pass.
I hope to do at least a trip or two, on each of these ships before the summer. Chances are, these trips will be on a Sunday I'm assuming. By the summer time, I might take a little more advantage of the summer schedule.
I'll just throw these dates out here to get the ball rolling for these trips. They can be adjusted accordingly to peoples desire if they're motivated to go. This thread can be used for V-Class trips after the dates for the trip have passed.
April 20th - Queen of Vancouver - 12:00pm Tsawwassen - Queen of Saanich - 4:00pm Swartz Bay
May 11th - Queen of Saanich - 2:00pm Tsawwassen - Queen of Vancouver - 6:00pm Swartz Bay

Do you have these videos of the Queen of Esquimalt posted anywhere for us to view? If you put them on a disc, may I buy a copy from you?

Greetings, Ms. Esquimalt Queen. I haven't really posted any of these videos anywhere....yet. I just purchased a new laptop last weekend, so I'm still trying to configure it to work with my video camera. I hope to post a few samples in the coming weeks/days. I'll let you know via a PM when a DVD is ready, hopefully by the summer (of the Esquimalt at least).

I'm going to pencil my name in for this trip. I would like to get as much time on the remaining Vs as I can.

I have April 18th off, in case anyone wants to make it a Saturday or that Friday. If not, I think I can do Sunday, though I'd really have to see...

Anyone want to do the April 20th V class trip Sunday April 13th instead??? The Tsawwaseen Comox Powell River trip is now the 19th and 20th so if anyone wanted to do it that weekend we could.
April 13th - Queen of Vancouver - 12:00pm Tsawwassen - Queen of Saanich - 4:00pm Swartz Bay
or
Queen of Saanich - 2:00pm Tsawwassen Queen of Vancouver - 6:00pm Swartz Bay
island guys could do the 12pm stay onboard meet everyone on the 2pm from Tsawwassen then take the 6pm back to Tsawwassen for a second time then back on the 9pm!

Okay, for April 13, I am doing a round trip on The lovely Queen of Vancouver. I'll be getting the 2pm sailing out of SwB, and returning home on the 4pm sailing from Tsaww. If anyone wants to join, that's cool. Otherwise I'll be having an intimate visit with the ol' QoV.

OK, so I'll probably be on the 12:45 out of Duke Point on the 13th, so I'll probably see you at Tsawwassen if I'm not too shy to say hi.

Are you doing a trip on the Vancouver from Tsawwassen??? I am debating wheather to do a roundtrip again this weekend on the Vancouver or go to Galiano to take photos of the Van and Saanich passing. If more people are doing roundtrips then I will do that.

So, who is doing what on Sunday...?
As in, we need to come to a consensus on which sailings will be group trips.
I would advocate the Queen of Vancouver - 12:00 pm Tsawwassen / - Queen of Saanich - 4:00 pm Swartz Bay

I think I'll be pushing for a round trip on the Queen of Vancouver. I haven't yet decided to catch the 12:00pm sailing or 4:00pm sailing out of Tsawwassen on it though. Whichever majority of the crowd votes for. In some ways it might be nice to figure out a way of getting over to Swartz Bay and watching the Vancouver powerslide into the berth from the shore. This would mean catching the 10:00am or 11:00am sailing. I'm sure we'll all discuss it later tonight on MSN, and then post the final details on here after.

Well I was thinking of doing the 2pm Queen of Vancouver with Queen of Esquimalt but I am deciding whether to do the roundtrip or take the 6pm Queen of Saanich back from Tsawwassen as I did do the roundtrip last Sunday on the Vancouver and I plan to do a few more before the summers over! But I could also do the 6pm from Swartz Bay then return on the 9pm if the mainlanders wanted to do a later roundtrip. Whatever works!

Alright so:
Karl can't decide what he'll do yet, and will likely decide at the last second. Queen of Esquimalt will be on the 2:00pm sailing out of SWB, and returning on the 4:00pm out of TSA. Mill Bay and Myself will be on the 4:00pm sailing out of TSA, and returning on the 6:00pm sailin out of SWB.

Alright, just got back from a real treat of a trip!
Before I go any further.......I GOT TO BLOW THE HORN OF THE QUEEN OF VANCOUVER AS WE ENTERED ACTIVE PASS ;D;D;D;D. I'll try and get the video of this within the next couple of days. I'm still trying to configure my video camera to work on this computer...
Until then, I have photos to share once again!!
This was the first Ferry trip for my brand new Nikon D60, so I'm trying to get used to the camera still.
I stopped by the Lonsdale Quay on my way out to Tsawwassen, to get photos of the Q. of New Westminster. But I spent almost a little too much time down there, as I nearly missed the 4:00pm sailing on the Queen of Vancovuer, and I arrived at 3:47pm.
Once onboard, I searched all over for Mill Bay, and Queen of Esquimalt. Just before we departed, Mill Bay appeared on the outer deck as I was preparing to record the horn. Once we had departed the Terminal, Queen of Esquimalt surprised me as I was taking a photo. After we of course did the secret handshake and secret code word, we had some ferry chat. Then suddenly Queen of Esquimalt says, "I'm going to go inside for a second". Mill Bay and I had just assumed she was just going to use the washroom, so we decided to wander the passenger decks. It was then we found her standing outside of the Cheif Stewards office, waiting to be escorted to the bridge. She got to hang out in the bridge from midpoint across the Strait, until we hit the dock at Swartz Bay. Mill Bay and I were jealous of her for doing that, until she asked the crew members in the bridge if we could go up there for the return voyage, which is what we ended up doing.
After wandering the ship for 10 mins, and getting the cashier at the Gift shop in trouble for not advising the bridge of Mill Bay and Myself doing a round trip, we met up with Karl. Karl warned us of a full sailing, which is what it turned out to be. It was a gong show everywhere on the ship, and it was crammed with people. That's ok, us three were eventually escorted up to the bridge in time to sail through Active Pass, which is where I got to sound the horn. What a rush that can be! Karl filmed me with my video camera as a I did this, so stay tuned for the video.
After hanging out in the bridge for a good part of the trip, we headed back down to the passenger deck, where I bought my dinner. The Vancouver ended up docking in Berth 5, the main Route 1 berth, so once she finished unloading, she had to be moved to Berth 1. We hung around and watched this happen from the observation decks of berth 5 and 2. Slowly, the Vancouver reversed out of the dock, and slowly moved over and into berth 1.
Hmm, I'm having technical difficulties with my photo hosting websites right now, so the photos will have to wait until tomorrow unfortunately. Until then, you'll have to look forward to seeing photos from the others.

Chris: thanks for your report. I'm so happy for you re the horn-blowing in Active Passage.
It appears that member "Queen of Esquimalt" is the good-luck re the recent trips; maybe your bad-luck streak is over, Chris?
I've been jealous of you guys and the recent trips. This is a busy time for me at my work, and so I haven't been able to enjoy these trips with you. But I hope to do some Route 30 / 1 combos in the summertime, to get my final V-class fixes.
And in the next few years to come, I hope to ride the Queen of New Westminster many times on Route-1, getting my nostalgia fix.
