Well rather then bump up a old thread, i decided to create a specific thread on Eveacuation systems for new vessels that will be built in the next 10 years. As we all know, or at least most of us, BC Ferries uses almost every type of lifesaving system possible. They are the LSA slides, Marine Evacuation chutes, Marin-Arc chutes, Emergency slide system, lifeboats and davit launched life rafts. One of my trainers said the company really likes the LSA slides and is starting to go with them for their new large vessels, we can all see that because that system is on the coastals.
So just so you have an idea of what system is on what vessel if you don't know already:
Marin-Arc chute system:
Queen of Oak Bay Queen of Coquitlam Queen of Surrey Queen of Cowichan
Single Marine Evacuation Chute by DBC Marine:
SoBC SoVI Queen of Cumberland Queen of Capilano
Twin track MEC by DBC marine:
Queen of Burnaby
LSA Slide System:
Queen of Alberni Queen of Nanaimo Queen of New West CR CC CI Northern Explorer Island Sky
Emergency Slide system by DBC (its just a mini slide for low freeboard vessels):
Skeena Queen Kuper Howe Sound Queen Quinitsa
Davit Launched Life Rafts:
Queen of Esquimalt (sold / retired) Queen of Vancouver (sold/still in use) Queen of Saanich (sold / still in use) Queen of Chilliwack Tanaka Queen of Tsawwassen Queen of Prince Rupert
50 person life rafts (covered) entered by ladder from vehicle deck or passenger deck:
NIP Tachek Bowen Queen Mayne Queen Powell River Queen Quinsam Nimpkish
75 person platforms (uncovered) entered by ladder from vehicle deck or passenger deck:
Kahloke Kwuna Klitsa Mill Bay Quadra Queen 2

i hear most of the smaller ferries with just the 50 person life rafts or the 75 person platforms have to get off the ship by a large scramble net attached to the ships decks and climb down to a liferaft. I believe the Quinitsa will get the DBC ESS (emergency slide system) during this MLU. The Quinsam will during her MLU when ever that is.

Also the 3 Coastal vessels will have LSA slide systems and both Spirits are said to get LSA slide systems by 2013.
