Just wondering if the WSF annual maintenance schedules have been disrupted because of the recent problems with MV Tacoma? It seems like both MV Chelan and MV Issaquah have been working all winter without time out for maintenance. Can the same be said for MV Illahee, MV Hyak, and MV Yakima?

The Chelan will, I suspect, get her turn in the yard prior to her return to the international run in April; the Illahee's yard period is coming up shortly as well. Hyak's a bit later, and I'm not at all sure about the Yakima.

I have heard from the galley staff onboard the Chelan that she will be at Bremerton for two more weeks...I think that is right around the time that the Cathlamet is supposed to return to service, which would kick the Kitsap somewhere.

Back to Bremerton, most likely. I was told before we packed everything off the Chelan was scheduled for yard time starting Feb 12.

Looks like there will be some interesting vessel moves starting next week with the beginning of the Spring Schedule. This year it seems like several vessels are behind schedule on annual maintenance. As MV Chelan is needed in the Islands next week, will MV Walla Walla be ready in time to replace her on the Bremerton run? Will MV Chelan replace MV Kaleetan in the Islands, as Kaleetan is due for maintenance? Has MV Yakima been through annual maintenance yet? The two Steel Electrics MV Illahee and MV Klickitat are both due for maintenance, and the need for two vessels on the Keystone run is approaching. Wonder what will happen? Oh what fun . It's interesting to follow from the sidelines!

(2) The Kaleetan will be scooted over to fill in for the Yakima for a bit, so actually the Yakima may head south to sit in at Bremerton for a smidge until the Issaquah's done. (3) Sing it with me... "Well, Hello, 'Squally!"

That's great...any idea on how much longer the WALLA WALLA will be in drydock?? She has been there a while. It would be a nice little gift if we got the YAKIMA at Bremerton...I have not seen the refurbished interior

The WALLA WALLA is out of drydock right now. She has tugs pushing her in Elliott Bay. Also, the NISQUALLY was at Pier 52 yesterday.

I was on the YAKIMA tonight...very nice. They do not yet have the galley open. I did notice that she could use a decent amount of fresh paint though. It has been quite a while since the HYAK and YAKIMA have been partners at Bremerton.

How long will MV Yakima be out of service for annual maintenance? I wonder if she had her annual maintenance last year when she was out of service due to a generator problem. The Tillikum will probably be going in for maintenance soon (IIRC, her COI expires next month).

Why dont you WSF ferry guys get some paint and some brushes and touch up the Chelan, lol! I have seen her in Sidney the last two days and all I have to say is why the hell dont they give her a new pain job. Looking pretty rusty along the sides. If they paid me I would do it, lol!

I think you may want to give more of that TLC to the QPR Karl, that thing is even more rusty than the Chelan.

Karl and Dan, the QPR was looking like this 12 months ago. photo is from Kevin Stapleton's pbase websiteIn one year's worth of Hecate Strait & Queen Charlotte Sound she has taken quite a beating. When was it that the Chelan last received a new paint job?

Both the Illahee and Klickitat will be in drydock at Todd Shipyards. The Kittitas will be at Dakota Creek.

According to the WSF website, the Q-boat will replace the Klick on Saturday, 28th.
No anouncement of the Q-boats' replacement in the Islands, but I think Barnicle said the E-State would do the Inter-Island route in the absence of the Steels.

Illahee is currently northbound for Anacortes.
EDIT: She is replacing the Quinault, which is now heading south.

Is there any yard time scheduled for the Quinault soon? She sur could use a little TLC in the paint department.

When boats are breaking down faster than we can fix them, paint's a low priority.

I see the Walla Walla is at Todd's along with the Kickitat and the Illahee, (Steels being pictured there in another post). Is the Walla Walla just about ready to return?
