Note: if you want a ferry named after you, just ask, and i'll let you make the majority of the design decisions too.

The bridge on end 1 is complete. The windows on the passenger lounge and vehicle deck are complete. The masts have yet to be made, and the stern bridge has yet to be finished. I have written in all the logos and writing, but since I could not put the slugs on the stack of this boat, I decided to make them larger than normal, and in a different than normal position on the side of the ferry. Sorry, Spirit of Mill Bay, I couldn't get your ferry to look like the Tenaka. It's already too far done. I would've if I could've though.

No. Still needs a radar mast on the second wheelhouse, ha-ha. That's a very compact ship for having two bridges, as well.

I decided to not make an aftmast. It took me 45 minutes just to make the foremast. The ship has wiring that connects the aft bridge to the foremast. I gave this boat two bridges because I have always liked that appearance more than the single bridge look on the double enders.
My next vessel will be the M/V Queen of the Coast. She will be a large single endedvessel, about the size of the V's, maybe a bit larger. In memory of the old dogwood flags, I am going to paint this one with the old 'Pastel Blue with Dogwood flag' scheme. If anyone wants to make suggestions on the appearance, just post 'em here, or message me either here or on facebook.

That must put it in the class of the old double-enders that used one radar synchronized for both wheelhouses, so they usually had a single mast in the middle of the ship where the radar was placed and then connected to the displays in both wheelhouses. So, do I get more pics of it? ;D

It took me 6 hours and two days, but I finally finished the funnel and dogwood logo. I had a heck of a time creating the dogwood, as SketchUp is not made to work with those kind of shapes on a routine basis. If I have the colours wrong, please tell me, because BCF switched to the slugs before I could memoriaze the dogwood well enough. Here's the Queen of the Coast, so far:

Ahh, my friend you have soooo much to learn about Sketchup. Look up "components" and your mast issue will be solved in seconds. Use the mirror and component features to make symmetrical hulls in half the time. One last thing I will let you in on. Don't use the stupid cloudy glass for you windows, use a non-transparent charcoal color and it will look much more professional. I did this model of the superstructure of the Queen of Chilliwack. It will help me in planning how I will build the superstructure of the model. The mast is drawn as a component and then mirrored to the other end of the vessel. Therefore they are the exact same and when I edit one it automatically changes the other mast as well. All of the railing posts, the funnel, bridge, and the doors are components as well. And the graphite windows look much better. Cheers,

personnally, I don't think so about the windows, but i'll try it. And about the mirror component: how do you do that? PS: nice job with the 'wack though!

If you don't like the blacked out windows don't try and get a job for an architect. To mirror something it is best to turn the assembly into a component and then copy it so you have two of them. then right click on it and select "flip along", then select the appropriate axis to flip it and walla you have two items that are the exact same, but you will have to reposition the second one. Cheers, As for the cheers. Its polite, that's why.

To misquote NE and take Mr Monkey for a wee stroll around Harassment Square..."and viola you find yourself in Walla Walla doing the walla walla bing bang." And a little more Tuesday morning chop busting - and viola you find yourself in Walla Walla doing the walla walla bing bang. And now for a little David Seville... ;D

I am being quite impressed O.k... this just piqued a warning sensor somewhere in my brain... but, what language are you typing in, because that cannot possibly be English if it's meant to be readable, even at the middle school level, and I'm just not sure a French-English background is a good enough explanation.

If you speak French, this would be a literal translation of the French into English. Will be interesting to see if the supposition from above is correct or not.

Hmmm... what would it look like if a thirteen year old was trying to write with what he thought was a French accent... If you speak French, this would be a literal translation of the French into English. Not likely for someone who's profile said born in '73. Their thought processes and reasoning faculties and abilities to translate words and concepts from one language to another should be a lot more developed. Besides... using verb conjugations like 'telled' and 'not being expecting' and 'being quite impressed' are not a result of translating French into English, because even in French, there is no such order of wording that would come across in English that way. For one thing... someone striving to be a sincere translator of their thoughts, would not use a word such at 'telled', a word which doesn't even exist in English, except for some under the age of 6. Just for fun, I corrected some of the really awkward verb phrases, then translated the text into French (using a computer, of course)... this is what you get: C'est beau! Luc m'a dit être à la recherche, à ses modèles. Je ne m'attendais pas à autant de détails sur ces modèles. Je suis très impressionné.And... when you translate it back into English, you get: It's beautiful! Luc said to be looking at his models. I did not expect so much detail on these models. I am very impressed. And this is using a computerized translator, which can't even think through it's thoughts or what order it is going to put it's words in. About the only thing that was correctly translated from English to French is that in French, Luke is generally spelled with a 'C'. Also... I'm pretty sure the French phrases are just really, really bad French, as well.

I am being quite impressed Because young teens don't understand subtle comments and because of Mill Bay's exhortation to be straight-up with calling things out, I have the following question for member "lmtengs": Does member "qonw" "Sean" really exist? Is there really a separate 36 year old guy who lives on your street and who himself has joined this forum? Did member "qonw" really make the above post himself, or was it you Luke, pretending to be someone else?
