Does anyone know if the 9:35pm ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo on a Saturday night would be busy??? Me and my g/f are thinking about doing a day trip Saturday to the PNE from Victoria and are thinking of either going back from Tsawwassen to Duke Point at 10:45pm or Horseshoe Bay at 9:35pm cause we want to spend the most time at the PNE seeing the last ferry to Victoria is 9pm which is annoying! Seeing the PNE is closer to Horseshoe Bay it only takes about less than 30 mins if we arrived at 9pm I think we could make the 9:35pm. I dont want to reserve cause we are trying to save money!

The 9:35pm shouldn't be full to capacity. However, I would arrive at Horseshoe Bay before 9pm just to be safe. If you miss it, you have to stay overnight either in your vehicle, or in some sort of accomodation, which would cost more money than a reservation. So I would get there at around 8:30-8:45pm just to make sure your on the sailing.

Well if we missed it we would just go back to Tsawwassen and catch the 10:45pm if that was the case. We both have Sunday off so if we get back late it wont matter! Be a whole lot easier if the 10pm from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay sailed Saturdays too! Stupid BC Ferries. I dident think the 9:35pm ferry to Nanaimo would be full but you never know!

On normal circumstances, the 9:35pm shouldn't be full. However, on Saturday nights, there usually is a lot of traffic heading to Nanaimo for some reason. My concern for you two is that if the 9:35pm is full, the 10:45pm might be full as well. Overheights are usually full on that sailing, and underheight traffic can be unpredictable on that sailing. Bear in mind that theres a 2.5 hour difference between sailings, meaning that traffic could build up for Route 30, making it a full sailing. I could be wrong though, I would just arrive at Horseshoe Bay before 9pm, see if it's full, and if it is, drive to Tsawwassen for the 10:45pm sailing. Hope that all goes well on your visit to the PNE.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's a Coastal Renaissance sailing, and it's the last sailing of the night on a Saturday. It will be quiet, and can almost guarantee it.
