What is gonna happen to the PRQ when this is all taking place if she isent going to be in service where is she gonna go??? I dont think she can sit on Quadra! Exactly what I'm wondering. Hmmm...Texada? That's the only place I think she could be that's fairly close to Campbell River. Unless BCFS has other plans for her.

They might just tie her up at the coal-wharf, which is just north of the Campbell River ferry terminal. It's on the Tyee spit.

Would it be illogical to send her to the extra Saltery Bay berth? Also, I'm wondering if this berth used to be part of an ex-ferry terminal on Mitchell Island: Google Maps Link is right here.... so click it.

Quathiaski Cove new berth video:
Hi all, I just returned home today from camping up in the Campbell River area. On July 16, I went for my annual ride on the Powell River Queen and took some pictures and videos of the "New" dock.
Here is the video of our arrival to Q-Cove: As seen from car deck
Our Departure as seen from the top sundeck:
Our arrival back into Campbell River:
I took pictures of the dock too, which I will upload sometime.

Here is a new thread for photos of ferry terminals for the Northern Gulf Islands, and discussion related to those photos.
For purposes of this thread, this is for routes of Denman and north, up to Port McNeill. And this does include Texada Island.

I'm thinking it should be called Northern minor ferry terminals then, since technically, Quadra/Cortéz and north are the Discovery Islands.

("Northern minor ferry terminals" would be ok, except that it would appear to include places like Shearwater and Alliford Bay).

Does anything say south BC coast more than arbutus trees and old wooden ferry docks? They've never been things of beauty (unlike Mill Bay's rusty ol' spider web bridges ), but I'm going to miss the wooden structures, which are gradually being replaced by concrete, steel, and plastic. Iconic can be a rather hackneyed term, but arguably, it describes these docks' place on our coast. Shingle Spit.

Is Gravelly Bay the last of the old-fashioned wooden berths left in BC Ferries fleet of berths?

Is Gravelly Bay the last of the old-fashioned wooden berths left in BC Ferries fleet of berths? I think that the berths at Shingle Spit, Denman West and the secondary berths at Saltery Bay and Earls Cove beg to differ. Not to mention Berth 1 at Tsawwassen.

Is Gravelly Bay the last of the old-fashioned wooden berths left in BC Ferries fleet of berths? Luke, you tell us. We've arranged the photo-threads of the terminals so that it's easy to browse. I can think of a few terminals with old school wood. Let us know what you find.

The work barge which was at Gravelly Bay last week was at Shingle Spit yesterday. Maybe it got blown across Lambert Channel in the tremendous storm we had Sunday night. Naah.... that was a southeaster. Actually, I believe both docks are being renovated at the same time.

Quote from the recent Term-3 prelim submission report: It also says that both projects will be completed by October 2011. That's a long project.
