She was schedule to be redelivered to WSF on the 25'th, so it sounds like they completed the repairs 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Last I heard she is due to come up to the islands and boot the Hyak down sound.

There's a bit of jockeying around for that coveted fifth slot in the San Juans--neither of the engine crews aboard the Hyak or Kaleetan want to leave...

The latest maintenance schedule shows the Yakima returning to the San Juans on the 20'th and the Kaleetan heading to Seattle - Bremerton.

My money's on the Hyak heading for Bremerton. Call it a hunch.

Is Yakima going to assume the #2 vessel position? That is her traditional place. If so, which position will Elwha run?

If the Yak jumps into #2 slot, that leaves #5 open, but I suspect that will go to the Kaleetan and the Elwha will assume #3. It would be easier to put the Yak in #5 for the summer, but that would also make too much sense.

FYI - Yakima was pulling into Slip 2 at Colman Dock around 5:30 this evening as we (Tacoma) were preparing to depart.

For those who are keeping track... Yakima departed Eagle Harbor at 9 AM and is currently bound for Anacortes. Er...strike that. She apparently had some issues and is heading back to Eagle Harbor.

I see that they changed the vessel positions in the islands today. It appears Hyak and Kaleetan have switched spots. Hyak is now listed as the #3 boat, and Kaleetan is now the #5 boat. Does this mean Yakima is going to assume the #3 position?

If you're correct, then the vessels will be positioned as follows:
#1: Chelan (unchanged) #2: Yakima #3: Kaleetan (moved from #5 slot) #4: Evergreen State (unchanged) #5: Elwha (moved from #2 slot)

That is, as they say, the plan. At least it was, earlier in the week. No odds are being offered as to when the Yakima will rejoin the fray.

Around 8:15... M/V Kaleetan in the #1 slip, M/V Elwha pulling into the tie-up slip, and the M/V Yakima in the background (and is now pulling into the #2 slip as I type this). 5 minutes later... 10 or so minutes later the M/V Chelan shows up... and the M/V Hyak arrives just after 9:00...

I keep hoping for a chance opportunity to get a photo of all four Supers in one spot. I missed out on getting all three Evergreens by about ten minutes (The Evergreen State was running late and I couldn't get them all in frame. )

WOW!! MV Yakima to Bremerton. Is she safe on that route? I thought she had a "hard landing" at Bremerton last year that put her out of service and in the yard for a month or two?

That was due to a high winds scenario and plus the marina down at Bremerton was under construction at the time. I think she will be safe as long as there are no high winds and they try the same thing all over again instead of aiming to the left a wee bit more.

And the Capt. was in error and found at fault or so I heard. I think she will be fine in-spite of it all. I mean over all Yakima has a good record, she just looks bad.

Can't imagine why she wouldn't be. The Kaleetan has been there for months and they're both telegraph boats. As noted in previous posts, there was a combination of circumstances that resulted in that accident. I guess WSF's input on that new marina was "Please don't put it there" and the city of Bremerton basically ignored them and went ahead with it anyway. I'm curious of how full it actually is.

Something that could've happened to any boat. The Supers are just kites, is all. Safe, indeed. As has been stated in previous posts, WSF all but begged the city of Bremerton to not put the marina there.

S/O and I took a walk around Lake Union this afternoon and I snapped a few pictures of the Yakima as I went by. Sorry for the poor quality, it is afterall an iPhone. Certainly enjoying watching the progress from my apartment, not a view I have gotten in a few years. :-)

WOW, there is actually a ship there under all of that rust! Looks like WSF will have to find another "rust bucket of the fleet." Any recommendations? ;D
