LOL Looks like the Puyallup decided to mimick the Hyak there.

Truly my favorite ferry is the Puyallup, but my question is if any of the Jumbo Mark II have ever been on the Seattle- Bremerton route?

The Tilikum was the only E-State (I think) that has run that route and as you know the Salish was the sole KdT that has ever served that route - and docked at Bremerton.

I rode the Salish when it was in town and it was so slow it took like 70-90 minutes to get from Bremerton to Seattle

The JMIIs only operate on the Edmonds-Kingston route and the Seattle-Bainbridge route. They are too big for other routes in the system.

The JMIIs only operate on the Edmonds-Kingston route and the Seattle-Bainbridge route. They are too big for other routes in the system. They might be able to do an Edmonds to Port Townsend run if or whenever a "February 1979"-like windstorm sinks the Hood Canal Bridge again. The SPOKANE, WALLA WALLA, KALEETAN, YAKIMA, and ELWHA took turns on this run in 1979. The TILLIKUM phased it out when real ferry service was established at Lofall in 1980.

That's a really good photo. That mountain rising above the SPOKANE's Number One End wheelhouse is Mount Index. You have to go to the other side of that mountain to see its spectacular-ness on the Stevens Pass Highway (US2).

Photo heavyI finally got a chance to post photos I took of the Puyallup two weekends ago. The one below was taken from the Spokane on Saturday; the rest were taken on Sunday: MV Puyallup by compdude787, on Flickr Puyallup approaching Kingston. Taken from that wooden viewing platform at the ferry dock: MV Puyallup approaching Kingston by compdude787, on Flickr The Puyallup being a very bad girl by smoking under the age of 18. Naughty naughty no-no! MV Puyallup smoking by compdude787, on Flickr Smoking no more: MV Puyallup approaching Kingston by compdude787, on Flickr "Library" and smokestack (yes, that's what I like to call it). The JMII's have the nicest-looking smokestacks, IMO. MV Puyallup library and stack by compdude787, on Flickr MV Puyallup bridge and solarium by compdude787, on Flickr MV Puyallup bridge by compdude787, on Flickr The only interior pic I took. If the galley wasn't in the background, I'd enter it into the flagship contest for May. MV Puyallup interior by compdude787, on Flickr Uncropped version of the photo I entered into the flagship banner contest for April. I like the lens flare, it looks cool: MV Puyallup bridge and superstructure by compdude787, on Flickr Front end of the Puyallup speeding across the water: MV Puyallup end by compdude787, on Flickr The library, as seen thru the window: MV Puyallup library by compdude787, on Flickr Solarium, bridge, and sundeck: MV Puyallup sun deck by compdude787, on Flickr And last but not least, the wake: MV Puyallup wake by compdude787, on Flickr

I sorta wish I had captured more photos of the Puyallup than I did when I went over to pick up that broadcast television camera package. Of course, sitting down in the galley consumed a third of the time it takes to cross, leaving me with little time left to do anything. Those are pretty good shots!

:)congragulations on a particularly good selection of evergreen fleet vessels, I find them much more pleasing to my eye than the present day slug fleet menu! Washington state ferries still look traditional, and not some tarted up travel industry joke! mrdot. Amen! Though I could've used a little less lipstick on the Jumbo Mark IIs, like a more conventional funnel. No, I actually like the funnel on the JMIIs. It's the best!

I actually spent most of my time taking pics and enjoying the sun on that warm weekend. It's great that it's spring, but now the rain has to return on the day I have a track meet! Why does it always have to rain the day I have a track meet?! (At least I PR'd--that is, running faster than I did the last time I ran)

I returned from Kingston to Edmonds on the MV Puyallup today. Scott (Former Account): were both the ropes and safety nets on when you were on the Puyallup or only the safery nets? The Puyallup is a reliable boat. The load wan't full so they still put the ropes, so this is the best shot I could get. Scott (Former Account): were both the ropes and safety nets on when you were on the Puyallup or only the safery nets? Both the rope and safety netting were in-use when I took my photo.

Then you must have extremely long arms...or just a good wide angle lens ! I just stuck my arm over the end of the bulwark (to the left of the lifering). AT THE LOWER LEFT OF THIS AREA VISIBLE IN THE PICTURE ---------- Lifering, Puyallup. by BCFS, on Flickr ...and while holding my D7000 equipped with a Tokina 11-16mm, I got the following shot. WSF's Puyallup en route to Kingston. by BCFS, on Flickr This shot is impossible without the use of an ultra-wide angle lens.
