Then you must have extremely long arms...or just a good wide angle lens ! I just stuck my arm over the end of the bulwark (to the left of the lifering). AT THE LOWER LEFT OF THE AREA VISIBLE IN THE PICTURE ----------------------------- [pic] ...and while holding my D7000 equipped with a Tokina 11-16mm, I got the following shot. [pic] This shot is impossible without the use of an ultra-wide angle lens.I tried sticking my arms past the bulwark but it wasn't long enough so I had to shoot from a freeing port. However I got similar shots with the Kennewick, one of the Puyallup's upper nameplates and the Hyak, Kaleetan and Yakima's side nameplates. I'll try again next time around, though! These shots also seem to be rally easy to get on the Evergreens (as the ropes stop just the end of the bulwark and the windows are extremely close) or the Hiyu

David Moseley mentioned in his weekly update that the Puyallup had just gone into drydock and posted some pictures on Flickr of the drydocked boat. It seems that this is essentially the "quarter-life upgrade" for this vessel that is not at the legal smoking age yet. I think it will be really nice to have a five-bladed prop as opposed to a four-blade one, as it will really reduce vibration, which sometimes happens on the Puyallup when she turns. Regarding the Puyallup's return to service date, I sure hope that it will actually be in December!

The Puyallup in drydock today from Jack Block park. Nothing much is happening above the waterline, but there seems to be a bit of equipement on the sun deck. I wonder if they're going to paint the benches in Green similar to the Tacoma, or leave it White like on the Wenatchee. Anyone wanna take a guess? I think the Puyallup has the best paint of all of her class. She doesn't seem to be peeling like the Tacoma and Wenatchee. She has a little rust on her sides though.

Does anyone know if the Puyallup has her LED navigation lights yet?

My resent trip on the M/V Puyallup was a bit rainny but it was still a good.... even tho her oldest sister is as old as me, she is still looks great for being younger then 17 years old! We were still docked in Kingston when this photo (april 19th, 2014 2:30 pm sailing) was taken but is from end 1 going to Edmonds from Kingston couldn't tell if i was on the true port or starboard side but I was at the end of the upper car deck where you start to point down..... How many accidents (besides people jumping/falling overboard) have there been, including mechanical problems.

two people went over-bored on the Seattle to Winslow run and even more lucky both where on the Wenatchee (not same day)
In 2000, during a particularly low tide, The Wenatchee touched bottom while rounding Tyee Shoal at the entrance of Bainbridge Island's Eagle Harbor, resulting in minor keel and propeller damage
In 2009, The Wenatchee had a collision with the #3 slip at Pier 52 in Seattle. There was heavy fog at the time and the vessel and slip were out of service for four days.
In November 2012, during routine maintenance, one of the Walla Walla's four drive motors was damaged and failed after it overheated. The ferry was removed from service while a replacement was installed. WSDOT announced that if the damaged motor could be replaced with a spare already in its warehouse, the ferry could be back into service within several months. The spare motor was refurbished by General Electric in Los Angeles and then installed at Vigor Shipyards. The Walla Walla is scheduled to return to service in April 2013.
Just some I can think of.....

Are you asking about accidents involving MV Puyallup, which is, of course, the vessel this thread is supposed to be about? I can't think of any accidents involving Puyallup off the top of my head. If you are asking about accidents with Washington State Ferries, in general, than that question should be re-directed to the General Discussion thread on the main Washington State Board.

So, it is confirmed that the Puyallup is heading down to Bainbridge to relieve the Sealth of duty until the Tacoma is back online. Leaving the Spokane alone on the Edmonds-Kingston route.

I don't usually get horn recordings without asking for them, but the Puyallup has to be THE exception. Back in May I was getting ready to wave up to the bridge to ask for a horn blow but the Captain recognized me and blew it before I could start the video. Now back on August 17th we found ourselves into pea soup fog while going to Bainbridge. So I could get a horn recording then It's not one long and two short but it will do. Here it is:

On Sunday, August 31 Bremerton and Seattle. The Jumbo Mark IIs are great for getting close-ups of the nameplates.

The person who jumped overboard on the Puyallup yesterday was my neighbors ex-husband.
