Why does the Tillikum and the Klahowya, have a longer passenger cabin compared to the Evergreen state?

Why does the Tillikum and the Klahowya, have a longer passenger cabin compared to the Evergreen state? If we were to class boats by exact similarities (in terms of measurments), then the Tilikum and Klahowya would NOT be in the e-state class. They are in fact improved versions of the e-state that include: - More Deck Clearance (corrected)
- Upside up texas Deck ;D (also corrected)
- Longer passenger cabin
- the bridge is also more forward on the E-State (or it seems like that, but in fact it is the cabin on the Tily and the Kalo that are more forward)

Why does the Tillikum and the Klahowya, have a longer passenger cabin compared to the Evergreen state? They were built to handle the then 1959 sort of large amount of commuters on the Winslow run. I guess the Vashon Island KLAHOWYA may have subbed for the TILLIKUM on the Winslow run seasonally back then. In the early to mid 1950s, the ILLAHEE and QUINAULT got their midships shelter enclosed and these got a lot more interior seats. Being a Winslow ferry most of the time in the 1950s and 1960s, WSF removed the serving counters with stools in the ILLAHEE's dining room and replaced them with tables and seats and got rid of the entrance doors to this area so as not to reduce seating capacity during galley closures (a new screen was placed over the new food service counter on this ferry). The Winslow run got the Supers KALEETAN and ELWHA in the late 1960s and the TILLIKUM and ILLAHEE went to Kingston.

To date I've only posted screen shots of models near completion, but this time I thought I might take the liberty of showing a couple of a model of the MV Tillicum I just started to illustrate the process.... This was probably the wrong thread for the above post (and this one too!), but should any be curious, screen clips of the finished model here: ferriesbc.proboards.com/thread/7880/page/1/ship-simulator-flight-ferries#page=3

I took a ride on the Tilikum from Southworth to Fauntleroy today. The interior is pretty clean even though it still has the Eames chairs, but she'll probably keep them until the end of her career as she's only got five or six years left. I have quite a few shots of her before my ride on her: MV Tilikum - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photo, on Flickr MV Tilikum - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photo, on Flickr MV Tilikum - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photo, on Flickr MV Tilikum - Washington State Ferries by SolDuc Photo, on Flickr I like that look on the car deck! Earlier this evening the Tillikum rescued three people off a sailboat that had run aground just off the North end ferry terminal at Vashon Island.

On my ferry awesome trip last weekend (see the Klahowya thread for more info), I got some shots of the Tillikum. These were taken from her older sister Klahowya on Saturday: MV Tillikum by compdude787, on Flickr If there weren't any clouds in the background, you could see Mt. Some pictures of the Tilikum taken on an all-Vashon trip on NYE 2013 (yes, I woke up at 6:00 on NYE, in order to ride ferries. You can call me crazy if you want, and you probably won't be off by a lot). Here's a postcard I have of the MV TILLIKUM, cropped. This shows her in Seattle. The dock sporting the fine lines under the Space Needle was Pier 64, used by the TEV PRINCESS MARGUERITE II. Shown most likely in the 1960s as the TILLIKUM was on the Winslow run until relieved by the Superferries in the late 1960s. Then, to Kingston. To Vashon Island in 1973.

This postcard, from most likely during the 1960s, shows the TILLIKUM doing a "tour" of Seattle's waterfront. She is seen passing the Canadian Pacific dock. That "PORT OF SEATTLE" dock north of the Pier 64/65 complex was known as Pier 66. North of that is where The Beatles stayed for their concert in the Seattle Center Coliseum. Did they fish out of their window like many guests did?
