From my household to yours, this holiday season: I wish you all the best for the holiday season and for the year ahead. Thanks for choosing to spend some of your time reading this forum and for participating in posting. It is a good thing to be able to share ideas and experiences (and even the occasional photo ) with each other. In pre-internet times, this would be impossible to do on the scale that we are able to do here. - I'm thankful for that. For those forum participants in Washington State, I want to wish you all the best too. Our Canadian Christmas happens on December 25th this year, because our Prime Minister decided to align the holiday dates with the USA; similar to what we did with daylight savings time. So we can celebrate on the same date, this year. - But seriously, I thank all the USA members for their reading and posting participation here. I've learned a lot about WSF from you guys, and I feel like I'm now simply a "North West Coastal ferry nerd", with no international limitations. - For those who spend most of their time on the WSF threads, I invite you to check out our BCFerries threads and give your comments on how you see things in BC and on what you think of the BC Ferries. For people reading this in Alaska, I also thank you for your participation here. We have that wonderful Spaulding connection between Alaska, BC and Washington; and lots more in common too. For those who live outside the North West Coast area, thanks for reading and contributing. I've learned lots about fine-food in Toronto, Coast Guard ships in the Mackenzie River and in the Newfoundland area, shipyards and orchestras in Germany and cable ferries in New Brunswick. - Thanks for adding your part to these west-coast topics. Thanks for tolerating myself and my occasional (or regular) crustiness. ;D But seriously, thanks for your understanding of me and my quirks & passions, and thanks for reading and commenting on the various things that I've been posting. I plan to stay active here and to keep on posting the west coast marine things that I see and notice, and that I think other people would be interested in. - For example, I'll be visiting a remote island community soon, and you can expect some photos, video and lots of Flugel analysis and commentary based on a few days of close-encounters of the Finnish hippie kind. And to those that I might regularly disagree with on issues or other things, thanks for articulating your points of view and for adding your thoughts and ideas to the mix. I wish you the best of everything.

And a Ferry Merry Christmas to you too Mr. Horn and to all of our members. From the Skier household to yours. It has been great to see our Washington state member base grow along with that area of the forum over the past couple of years. I look forward to learning more about WSF and reading more on the progress on their new Olympic Class vessels. Our BCF side has been quieter this year. However there are upcoming events at BC Ferries that will create some great discussion in the coming year. I look forward to it. I'd also like to thank all members for making Phil Spaulding's 100th Birthday well celebrated during "Spaulding Month." This forum truly was the place on the net for ferry geeks to celebrate such an important figure in the marine transportation industry here on the West Coast. In 2013, I look forward to celebrating WCF's 10th year on the Internet with all of you. I wish all of you the best. You all rock

Thanks for tolerating myself and my occasional (or regular) crustiness. ;D But seriously, thanks for your understanding of me and my quirks & passions... Mr Horn, we put up with you because we know that everyone's different and we have accept that and be friends and not get upset about your posting style. And a Merry Christmas to all, in particular those I've occasionally disagreed vehemently with. Photos, fan talk, earnest discussion, we need it all here and hopefully the new year will bring lots of each.

Merry Christmas everyone from the Mirrlees household to yours! It has been a great year in getting back to the large group trips that we have had in the past.
For 2013, I hope this trend continues! B.C. Ferries is sailing into un-charted waters, when the shoe finally drops, there will certainly be some lively back and forth discussion here.
Enjoy time with family, eat and drink lots, except no driving after the drink part.
Best wishes to all,
Peace Out.

Merry Christmas from the Photo household in Delta, BC to the members of the WCFF! This year has certainly had it's ups and downs, full of uncharted territory, to be cliche. Awesome year for group trips this year - with the best turnout we have had in years - and one of our first ever semi-organized Washington State Ferries trips. Good times with good friends were had, from laughing-all-the-way in the buffet, to freezing our buns off on the decks of the Nanaimo. Wouldn't have it any other way. This year, I hope you are at peace, and enjoy every moment you have with the ones you care about - friends, family, and those who bring joy into your life. You never know what's around the next corner. And now, BC Ferries has a positive presence on our Christmas tree, from classic dogwood, to slugs on a Spirit Stay classy WCF, and best wishes for the new year. Mike

I have just returned home from my usual truck the family around to all the gatherings and am ready to call Christmas done and over, the kids are in bed and I get to have a well deserved drink.
It has been a fantastic year and I want to thank everyone here for all of there contributions here from pictures to research on topics and down to tracking our old Vs on there last voyage.
Marry Christmas, (and at this point a little bit of humbug) and a very happy new year to all from the Mayne house hold.

My family did our usual Christmas day thing and went to a movie, this year The Hobbit, which I guess qualifies as a Christmas movie because it has elves. The decapitation and disembowelling of several hundred orcs was perhaps slightly less Christmassy, but I don't want to nitpick.
Half of Richmond, and in particular the Asian segment of the population, appeared to be at the theatre. Quite a zoo. For some reason I couldn't talk the three female members of my clan (including one of the ex-ish variety) into looking at ferries at Deas beforehand.

Merry Christmas, everyone! (That sounds a lot better than saying "Happy holidays") Well, in this case, I should say Ferry Christmas!"Ferry Christmas" seems more appropriate, especially with the Samish making its journey from Nichols down to Seattle to be assembled into a new ferry.
