Karl, the pictures are great... I wish I could fly too, lol.
That's definitely a different perspective on the Chilliwack, and the whole Saltery Bay area.
Do you have any idea what the Coquitlam was doing out in the bay, there>?

The Coquitlam did an 8 am sailing to Horseshoe Bay and then she deadheaded back to Departure Bay. Plus a trip to Langdale and back.

The Coquitlam did a 10am to Langdale and 11am return then deadheaded back to Departure Bay in the afternoon sometime. Those photos were taken around 3pm as the Renny was leaving!

I love the 2nd one of the Chilliwack Makes Her Look amazingly good. Too bad you didn't fly past the Westview Terminal. I was down there about 11:30-12:45. Could have looked down and seen someone or something where he/she wasn't supposed to be as shown by this photo... The Members who were on the Powell River Trip last month will fill in the blanks.

Karl, Was that your first time into Gillies Bay? If so, which runway did you come in on 14 or 32? 32 can be an interesting approach with a strong headwind and the steep drop to the beach from the airport, but 14 puts me right over my dad's house for photos on approach.

Yes we have been into Gillies Bay numerous times. It is a nice little airport and never busy and makes for a nice flight. These are some photos crossing over mid field for landing on runway 32 at Gillies Bay approach to runway 32 Texada Airport other direction runway 14, not a single plane landed within the 30mins we were there. There is a path on the other side of the runway where you can walk down to the beach. The last few times we havent been able to locate the path, lol. We have been down there before though. But this is a neat little airport!

A few photos from todays flight. It was too bumpy around Nanaimo to take any good photos but I managed to capture a few. Coastal Celebration at Departure Bay Kuper on route from Kuper and Thetis with the most cars yet I have seen on her, lol Howe Sound Queen at Crofton A Spook (SOVI) and a Queen (Vancouver) passing by Beaver Point Queen of Vancouver That's it for today! I saw the CR come out of Departure at about 10:50am and the CI departed Duke Point about 10:40am or so which would of made a cool shot if they were closer together. They sure look neat seeing them both from the air!

Karl: thanks for that view of the renovated Departure Bay terminal, in your first pic. The new vehicle compound shows up well.

very cool the quadra queen has a interesting refit place. I was thinking the same thing, I have never seen a turntable for boats. Nice pictures Karl, it was a great day for flying. After looking at the Mayne Queen I was wondering whether it would make a difference to the ferry by putting all the cars in the front. Wouldn't it make more sense to spread them out in the middle and leave the outside lanes open?

Great Photos Karl. QQII: That's probably the most intresting way to refit a ferry I've ever seen. Coho: Some good photos of the Coho, glad to see some a few days before I ride her for the first time. Q-Cumber @ Mayne: It's so funny seeing Berth 2 at Village Bay painted gray.

I was thinking the same thing, I have never seen a turntable for boats. I guess that gives Victoria 2 working turntables, one at the ship yard and one at the rail yard.

There's another one for ships at HMC Dockyard at CFB Esquimalt. I think it's just a little bit smaller than the one above, at Point Hope Shipyard.

Some bonus photos from last week. I dident plan on it but Saturday I had another chance to get up flying so I was able to get these aerial shots Queen of Saanich nearing Swartz Bay on her 2pm sailing from Tsawwassen I usually dont get to fly over Long Harbour when the Nanaimo is docked there but being this day we were up in the afternoon I was able to get these shots of the Queen of Nanaimo which was running late. Next, a Spook, this would be the SOBC And lastly the Bowen Queen at Otter Bay! That is it for last week!

ok here is another set of aeriel photos taken today. I am just lucky that every Thursday has been nice and sunny perfect for flying. These photos are from our flight back to Victoria from Boundary Bay. Queen of Saanich and Bowen Queen at Tsawwassen Terminal Coastal Inspiration nearing Tsawwassen Spirit of Vancouver Island crossing Georgia Strait Mayne Queen loading at Sturdies Bay A CPR truck ferry going through Active Pass Active Pass from the air Queen of Cumberland Cumberland gonna pull in behind the SOBC That's it for today's photos! I did see the ex Queen of Esquimalt at Deas but not close enough for a photo. I am trying to figure out how to do a local flight from Boundary Bay so I can get photos over Deas.
