Perhaps this could be moved to "why the sky is blue"?

Wikipedia is still available if you try... they didn't shut it down completely. YOu can still access any page with a direct link, and if you disable java in your browser it works completely normally. The "shut down" was solely to raise awareness for/against SOPA and PIPA.

The "shut down" was solely to raise awareness for/against SOPA and PIPA. I think that everyone's awareness of PIPA was raised at the William/Kate royal wedding.

Google is your friend. Heck no one uses real encyclopaedias anymore. Encylopaedia Brittanica or World Book for example. Those went out with cassette tapes and Radio Shack Trash 80 and 486DX computers having 1 to 2 Mb of RAM memory and 360k storage on 3.5" floppy disks.. I have a 2008 set of World Book encyclopedias, which I use often. I also have their Year Books, from '69 through '86, which I have no plans to get rid of. With real encyclopedias, I never have to wonder if it's written by some sixteen year old kid, or perhaps someone with a weird agenda. I also use Wikipedia.
