I saw her today too. She's still there.
...and General Francisco Franco is still dead.

Still at Fanny Bay BC as of this afternoon. Went for Sunday drive with my Father to Courtenay today. I observed the same thing on Saturday afternoon, though I was remiss in not reporting it. Maybe it had something to do with no change in, oh, four years or so. But on a related note, regarding things-that-don't-change... do BC Ferries staff still maintain that little garden at Horseshoe Bay by one of the berths? I'm defending posting this here, since this is the Rhododendron thread, and I'm asking about plants, and I actually do want to know.

From a purchased photo, we see the RHODODENDRON on, most likely, Hood Canal in the 1950s. That area behind the wheelhouse was where the heads were located. Staterooms on the other side. The passenger lounge was amidships. The galley was at the other end as well as a purser's office with a hole with brass bars and more staterooms. No radar yet aboard the RHODY then. After Hood Canal, she would find a long term home at Columbia Beach until 1978, then Port Townsend.

Good pictures!
Before the major renovation, the RHODY had incandescent lights on the car deck. The result would be a more yellowish color on the car deck.

On that day, she met another CHETZEMOKA. That's two CHETZEMOKAs she's met in her Puget Sound operating life. The 1927 version sailed with her for a good number of years at Columbia Beach. The newer version would meet the RHODY several times during dock trials at PDF-TAH and would replace her on that same route on swapping day.

I did a night photography drive on Vancouver Island on July 23/24, 2021, and here are some views of Rhododendron at Fanny Bay in Baynes Sound, between 3:00am and 3:30am. I like artistic night photography, so these are not meant to be detailed photos of the ship (just a disclaimer). It was such a peaceful setting to see the ship, lit-up by the full moon. Great nighttime shots of Rhody! I still miss seeing her crossing back and forth between Point Defiance and Tahlequah. She was such a fixture around here.

Video of the MV Rhodedendron, August 19, 2021. Somehow, I do not think she has been abandoned. Unless I am wrong?
