If all goes well could we expect 'SOVI's' arrival at Victoria on April 3rd? So far it appears 'SOVI' has had a relatively problem free journey from Gdansk, hope I haven't put a hex on her by even saying that. No she won't be docking in Victoria. The vessel is going straight to Deas Dock. Depending on the arrival I'll be seeing it at Deas Dock upon it's arrival as I only work 1 block away.

At 1800PDT, our ship of interest on this thread had Monterey off her starboard side.
Soon, we should be seeing her name on the BC pilot slate:

The SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND was off San Francisco Bay at 2130PDT, closing out my plot reports for this last day of March 2019.
Sorry San Francisco. This ship has enough treats of her own to last until she reaches home waters, perhaps, this week.
My next plot reports will be when she's off the Oregon coast.

As of 1430PDT, the SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND was due west of Seattle.
She must be slowing down to meet her pilot off Victoria at 0100PDT overnight tonight. The slate still shows that time. It looks like we won't be seeing pretty backgrounds when we watch her on the Race Rocks cam. Perhaps lights from Port Angeles and Victoria.

I'm guessing the early morning arrival is so she arrives at Deas when the tide is at it's highest, which tomorrow morning is at 6:06 AM.

It's 1900PDT on the second day of April and the SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND is entering the Juan De Fuca Strait. I guess she'll sail like a "Kehloken" until she arrives to pick up her pilot at Victoria's "outer foyer".
Her days on the open oceans are complete.
My tap into the Race Rocks cam will commence later this evening.

May she stay out of the reach of Valencia's Bight ...

The SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND has passed by Race Rocks and picked up her pilot right at 0100PDT on the third day of April, 2019.
I have captured some images of her from the Race Rocks cam. The quality of the images are not as clear as I wished. I am showing you at least five.
Here they are:
2318PDT - With the freighters BERGAMOTACE and YM ULTIMATE in view.
2352PDT
0004PDT - With Port Angeles in view.
0037PDT - A closeup of the ship.
0057PDT - The PACIFIC PILOT TWO is seen delivering the pilot to the SOVI.
We thank the operators of the Race Rocks cam for being a source of these images.

The SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND is home!
The last of the assist tugs have left. SMIT SPIRIT and RN HODDER. Additional tugs participating in her arrival were the KEN MACKENZIE, SEA IMP IX, and the SMIT PRIDE.
We will timestamp her arrival at 1058PDT, 03 APRIL 2019.
Now, her crew faces Canadian Customs agents. They have everything to declare, including the galley sinks!
Safe ending of a round trip voyage to Poland and back, and a renewed beginning for the SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND.
For those who are interested, here are some time points:
0300PDT - Turn Point
0345PDT - East Point
0520PDT - Nearing Sand Heads
0706PDT - Spotted the SOVI at Deas with tugs surrounding her with lines assist
1058PDT - Made fast, finished with engines, tugs departed
This concludes my round trip voyage coverage of the MV SPIRIT OF VANCOUVER ISLAND to Poland and back.
WELCOME HOME!!!

I'd just heard on the Celebration that they're expecting her at Swartz Bay on the 17th and in service very shortly thereafter.

Does anyone know if they gave the SOVI the same treatment with and added tri chime whistles or did they leave it out because of how loud they were?

And with that fantastic news I'll have to pay $5 to change my reservation from the 5pm to the 4pm departing SWB so I can travel on favourite ferry again!
