>:DMan, I hate those new fire windows. Horrible visibility through those things. Why on earth the C class needs them now after 35 years of safe operation is puzzling, and what's with the hodge-podge placing of them? One side of the ship has them, the other doesn't. Or, you'll get a row of the nice, original windows, then one fire window. The Queen of Tsawwassen had her forward lounge windows all replaced with these things, so I guess it's good she was retired. Awful.

Awful. As I am sure you are aware, regulations change, and so ferries must change with those regulations - especially in the case of a Mid-Life Upgrade. The fire windows are strategically placed near safety equipment, i.e. if fire were to escape through those windows, the safe evacuation of the vessel would be compromised. No love for the beer-goggle windows...

Those fire windows are directly below the davit for the rescue boats and life rafts. I still hate 'em. All I'm saying is that they're a necessary safety feature on the vessel. If a fire was in the path of the rescue boats, how do you think passengers would evacuate in an emergency? The MEC's cannot move away from the ship themselves.

Wow, those are some amazing sunset photos, @sccommuter! I gotta do more than just "like" your post, these are some nice photos. I also like how the setting sun lights the trees in the background.
