Right now, her AIS tracking is showing her at No. 6 and Cambie Roads in Richmond!

Looks like the Cowichan replaced the Surrey last night for her final round trip, so the Surrey could go to Departure Bay for what I'm guessing was dock fittings. Her track on Marine traffic shows that she visited the 2 easterly-most berths (2 and 3?) at Dep. Bay.

Dock fittings. The new standard WCFF guess for things Perhaps a ferries employee can confirm but I'm pretty sure it's maintenance related for the boat.

Ship mechanical issue according to Service notice here. www.bcferries.com/bcfservicenotice?id=2528Granted this notice is in regards to today's issue, which may have been the issue last Nite, However why would they take the ship to Departure Bay just for this when they have a spare berth at Langdale.

Dock fittings. The new standard WCFF guess for things Perhaps a ferries employee can confirm but I'm pretty sure it's maintenance related for the boat. The day after this happened, I filled out a customer comment form on the BCF website. I explained that I have a personal interest in the ferries (I did not mention the Forum) and asked why the Surrey paid a visit to Departure Bay that evening. I also stated that I realized that this wasn't an urgent issue and would understand and if they didn't have time to respond. After work today, I had a missed call and new voicemail on my phone. It was from the BCF Customer relations department. The agent apologized for not responding sooner and said that she had contacted a fleet superintendent. The Surrey was indeed doing dock fit trials that evening in preparation for the new schedules starting in January. She thanked me for my interest and told me not to hesitate contacting them again in the future if I have any other questions. I was very impressed with the courteous and sincere response.

That's an interesting response; also really impressive they got back to you like that. Almost makes me wonder if they read WCFF for information lol. The Surrey was there for mechanical work (perhaps in addition to dock fitting although that seems to make no sense to me) I learned a few days later while I was wondering around there.

I believe Queen of Surrey is doing docking trails at Departure Bay because Queen of Cowichan and Queen of Surrey are going to switch routes on evening sailing starting on July 2 until sometime in May. Does anyone know why BC Ferries is doing switching Queen of Surrey and Queen of Cowichan during the evening sailing?

Looks like she's going to make a run to Departure Bay every evening on this new schedule.

I had the chance to ride my second-ever BC Ferry in February 2018, the Queen of Surrey, from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale and back on a snowy, windy, wild day in Vancouver. Enjoy.
