I'm a bit late to the party. What's the purpose of the "Vessel In Refit" banner? Things like that tend to be a product of something going wrong.

Interesting...maybe doing dock fit trials for it's upcoming stint on route 30 in November? The last time it was used on route 30 was January 2012 according to my log of the photos I took at that time, and I'm pretty sure there have been some alterations done to some of the berths since that time.

I've never quite understood this 'dock fit' business... isn't the Queen of Coquitlam's hull and profile exactly the same as the Queen of Alberni's ? Why would they need any trials?

I believe it's not just how the vessels fit into the dock physically, but also how the other various systems at the berths hook up to the vessels. With the winch-style tie up lines, sewage pump ashore systems, etc... they may or may not connect ideally to a vessel that doesn't normally serve that terminal.

The Queen of Coquitlam paid a visit to Swartz Bay this morning just a little after 09:00 to drop off crew vehicles. It was a full house at Swartz Bay at the time, so she did a sail past Swartz Bay terminal first by sailing Colbourne Pass from East to West, and then turned around near the South end of Salt Spring to make a slow approach for berth 1, once the Skeena Queen had vacated the berth. She later proceeded to Esquimalt Graving dock. Swartz Bay C-Class and Super C Class by Deck-dog SSI, on Flickr

The QUEEN OF COQUITLAM has that SPOKANE and WALLA WALLA look. I felt I was back in Seattle already. She's a Spaulding cousin of our faithful Jumbos here on Puget Sound. But Coquitlam has a better whistle, the Spokane's is pretty good, but have you herd the Walla Walla's lately, its horible

I guess the people who've arrived far enough in advance at Tsawwassen are being told to take a very long hike to Horseshoe Bay... Gusting to 44 knots SE at Tsawwassen as of 9pm. Surprised that route one is operating.

Question for those familiar with vehicle loading on the Cs.
On route 30, my preferred schedule usually finds me on the 'Alberni. Yesterday I was on the 'Coquitlam, which was sailing in place of the 'Inspiration. I noticed that unlike the usual routine on the 'Alberni, they made no effort to stow the larger vehicles in the outside lanes of the upper deck, nor did they unload by having two crewmen walk down the center four lanes, directing one car at a time alternately from each lane... a system that works pretty well on a tight deck.
So... is the 'Alberni the only C that ever does that, or was it perhaps that the crew, who I presume usually worked the 'Inspiration, just not familiar with the routine? Or are the center lanes on the 'Alberni perhaps a bit narrower than her sisters, requiring that particular protocol?

On the 'C' Class ferries with gallery decks, I've noticed they tend to keep the larger vehicles in the center 4 lanes. My feeling is on the outside lanes they make a tight fit around the interior ramp mechanism that connects the upper deck to the gallery deck, so they may try to keep larger vehicles away from there if possible. I've seen both center lane unloading procedures done on the C's, but most often I see them clearing the front, then unloading a full lane at a time, as opposed to alternating one car per lane.

For me, that would be a sight to see in Tsawwassen!! I can't ever recall seeing a C-class other than Alberni ever there! I have a family connection to QofCoquitlam (my grandfather at Burrard Yarrows), so it is definitely my favourite of the fleet!

Has anyone noticed that the Queen of Coquitlam's airchimes are painted white on the in side and painted black on the outside Chances are, no one's noticed in the time since you first asked, this morning...

I have noticed that BCF has 2 auto decks and WSF has 1, and 3 BCF has the M/V Spokane and M/V Walla Walla look to them, like the Coquitlam, the Spokane and wally has the pickle forks, i have to say these are my favorite boats in BCF's

No coincidence, it is same design theme.
