Un-zoomed, to show you how small she looks as she comes into view. Westview in the background Some of Westview and Texada in the background. Texada in the background. - this is where she starts to slow down and then stops to wait for the 'Chilliwack to depart Little River.

:)all these very good pics. of the NIP after so many years of arduous travel, make me realize what an inovative rebuilding this project was. It's going on forty years ago I was involved in this major remake of this once deminuative Island Princess! At the time it seemed only a stopgap conversion job, and it is still doing hard time! and that QPR of my past, still sojourns on down fiji way! :)mrdot.

Oh my, that is a lovely placement of the cloud-line above the ship. Beautiful framing.

I don't know when we'll see an in-service line-up like this again, so here it is. - from the windy evening of February 20, 2012. (ps: Bowen Queen even gets into the rare-occurrence act)

Wow, that is one fine photograph, capturing that approach angle of the ship, with Powell River's Grief-Point in the background off the bow. Who knows when anyone will ever have that opportunity again. Of course, you can get that same background when the ship is departing Westview for Texada, but it's a much nicer photo configuration when the ship is actually moving towards Westview and Grief-Point is seen across her bow. Thanks for getting that.

I never knew the NIP had restaurant Facilities. Why doesn't BC ferries allow passenger to use the restaurant facilities on her during sailing? Is BC Ferries going to put the NIP on the Little River- Westview a long with Queen of Chilliwack during the Queen of Burnaby refit times, deas visits, and when she is used on route 9?

Yup, and it has already happened. As rencently as last fall, the NIP did a few extra sailings to assist the Chilliwack while the Burnaby was in refit.

To answer your first question, in short she doesn't have one anymore. The NIP also doesn't need galley service on Route 18 hence why she doesn't have it. and to answer your other question, as long as the Chilliwack is the replacement vessel on the PR-Comox route I can see the operation we saw last Fall happen for the next few refits. I only hope that it occurs in Spring this time when the weather isn't as unruly.

NIP seen on a sunny morning. September 8, 2012. She's at Blubber Bay, Texada Island, and I'm on the Queen of Burnaby sailing by: It looks like she has an addition to the top of her superstructure. ------------- Seen from the Westview spirit-square

North Island Princess arriving & departing Westview on September 8, 2012. - I'm at the spirit-square wharf Harwood Island in the background - she's just made her turn to approach the ferry dock, and she's showing us that she is a catamaran With a glimpse of Queen of Burnaby in background Side-on profile. With Powell River's Grief Point in the left background. Departing a short while later (she didn't sound her horn) Looking every bit a makeshift project, her narrow cabin looks misplaced on the wide deck, the result of that extreme makeover from 1971..

Looks like the NIP could us a little TLC, again! Are Powell River runs rough on ships that operate them?

North Island Princess, Taken from Blubber Bay, September 11. I originally was trying to get a good sighting of the Chilliwack passing Texada. I could see it but photographs didn't turn out well, so I drove over to Blubber Bay to get some pics.
