Hypothetical question:
If you were expecting a child and were wanting to name your child with the same name as a ferry, what are some good choices? - ie. names that don't sound too weird.
WSF, BCF, AMHS ships.
(No, this doesn't pertain to my family)
-----------------------
PS: John H. has already done this, naming a daughter after a V-Class ship.
=================
ps: You can also reply with good ferry names for a pet.

Hello, have you met my daughter Cathlamet? Call her Cathy.
Oh, and here's my dog. He's a coon-hound. We call him Kwuna.

Sidney, Victoria, and Howe are probably the only normal names you'd get off BC Ferries. Maybe Rupert, although I think that's quite an old fashioned name. We've heard of celebrities naming their kids weird names like Surri and Sky, which would probably not be considered normal, but could be linked to ferries. Tenaka might work for a little girl?

Let's not forget about Albert and Nicola! Nicola is legitimately on my list of favorite names. I think it's beautiful!

Hound Dawg for a pet...
Suzy with Q. as a middle name initial.
And for terminal locations...
Quathiaski? I dunno...
Swartz might work. might...
Brentwood would get some teasing in school...
Langdale could go by.
Alliford? I think it would be a women's name, but it doesn't sound as womanlike as it should.

Roxy Music's Bryan Ferry could have named a son Digby, but I doubt he would have gone for Island as a middle name...

Not a child, but our newest family member is named after a ferry terminal... He was born at Duke Point to the terminal's feral cat. Once it was discovered that she had a litter, employees gradually captured the kittens along with the mother. They all now have good homes with employees. Here's Duke...

That is one extremely cute kitty. And he looks really soft. Lucky you, Scott.
Yes, I'm a big time cat lover.

Thanks, guys! He's a great addition to our family, but it will take him a little more time to become friends with our bengal and siamese...

That story definitely made my day. He is a very cute kitty.
Just one question... Was there a specific place at Duke Point the mother was living? Or she just kinda hung out?

I take it 'Duke' is a 'he' and not a 'she'. Perhaps soon he will be an 'it'. He is handsome.
Duke is a good name for a 'he' cat. If she is a 'she' perhaps you could remame her 'Alberni'. 'Inspiration', though, would 'suck' as a cat name, regardless of cat gender.
Will 'Duke' travel with you on upcoming ferry trips?

I'll start him off early in ferry education, so we'll see where it goes... ;D

My attempt at some Duke kitten jokes:
- He expects his first feeding at 5:15am, and will have his last snack at 10:45pm.
- He stays still and quiet for most of the day, but comes alive and moves around once every 2.5 hours.
- He gets nervous around German accents, thinking that this means that something will soon crash against him. (German accents just before Christmas are especially frightening for him)
