Hey all...
I know that a few of you have pretty good knowledge of the local logging roads, so I'll create this thread for any posts we have related to it...
I'll start off with a question:
Does anybody know if the Clear Creek FSR is drivable by an all-wheel-drive V6 2005 stock Ford Escape? I'm hoping to make it up to the hot springs there in a couple weeks.

Now we are talking about one of my other past times. That road is a easy this time of year, I have seen Honda civics (I wouldn't recommend a Honda civic) but till snow hits your Escape shouldn't have any issues, just be cautious of side roads off the main road some of them are a little hairy.

Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. Backroads mapbook shows it as an unclassified 4wd road, and reports from BC4x4 forum seem pretty variable, and ditto with Club Tread reports, yet most seemed to be from around March or other Winter months, so I didn't know what to think about early Autumn. And don't worry, I'll be sticking to Harrison East, then the Clear Creek FSR, and I'm sure as heck not going to try driving the mystery trail thru to Spuzzum Main... that would be just a little too hairy for me.

I hate constantly wondering 'can the Escape take this?' I'm just worried that it would probably turn out to be overheight on the ferries....... ...unless... I could cut off the top of the cab and turn it into at detachable hard top. I could toss the cab roof into the tailgate for ferry rides and pop it on for the road! ;D

My 78 chev that is on 36 is over hight thought at the same time it almost never sees the ferry. I should add that all my trucks are old, I have had 3 1994 F350s (I still have one) I can't remember how many 70s chevs and my good old jeep, and we won't get in to my cars. My wife rags on me all the time, I just turned 29 and I have had more trucks then most people have had cars by the time they retire.

You can see I haven't looked into it too hard yet... If fuel prices keep skyrocketing the way they've been though, I might just abandon the plan altogether for another decade.

But yea, when you take one of those Super duty engines at full power up a Coquihalla Hill, you can practically see the gas gauge droop lower and lower... not a pretty sight in this day and age. Is the Cummins better on fuel? How's it in power, compared to the old engine, which I'm assuming was stock?

I spent $1300 on it and it puts out 284hp and 589 ftp with over 250000k on it. The Cummins gets the best mileage while making cheep power. I just love my Ford's!
