I have driven through one, once in my life when I made a quick detour off the TCH. Hint: If you think FLAT out while you weather the deep COLD, you should get to the GRAIN of the matter.

The place that Mr. Horn may be referring to has this postal code:
S0A 0L0
A ship that used to operate here on the BC coast a few decades back had the same name ...

This is a lovely clip from a great TV show. Rail nerds and ferry nerds alike will find blissful satisfaction in watching this clip, knowing that you've been there before in either rail or in a ferry-boat translation.

This afternoon at about five o'clock a passenger train went through White Rock, heading west. It was about eight or ten cars, pulled by a BNSF loco and another 'Rail Link' engine. Some of the cars had BNSF on them, which seemed odd, as there has never been passenger service from that railroad. The cars were named for Washington towns, and the end of the last car was floor to ceiling glass. It was obviously an excursion train of some sort... does anybody know anything about it?

Rocky Mountaineer Rail Tours is now running an infrequent service between Seattle & Vancouver over BNSF tracks. I thought that you might have seen that train and that perhaps it was using leased equipment such as you described. However, the RMRT Seattle - Vancouver route is operating on only one day (both north & south bound) this month, July 12th. So its something else you saw, either an excursion train, or a 'business car' train filled with executive types from the railway. Perhaps something to do with the 4th of July.

The blue cars were, as far as I know, restored by Dennis Washington himself, and used to give his office employees exposure to the railroad they work for, among other purposes. They were restored and kept adjacent to the Fraser River Rail Bridge in Surrey. The cars are based on Montana RailLink (sister to Southern Railway of BC). The RailLink locomotive you see is from Montana. I am not confident in where the cars actually originated from...

Can always use more trains on this forum.

Here's a quick view of a SRY Rail Link train along Vye Road in Abbotsford, BC This is a "famers' train" that makes various stops in the farming region of south Abbotsford, and likely Yarrow area too. Video: ------ and a fuzzy still Sna444pshot - 1 by Mike Bonkowski, on Flickr
