In my opinion, Pacific Yellowfin is one of the most beautiful ships on our BC coast (minus all those motor-bikes). - I will get better profile photos and some video of her, later this week. company website hereHere she is at Drew Harbour, on Quadra Island. - July 2013.

My apologies Mr. Flugel, don't know how your pic got redone, but I hasten to add that I agree the Pacific Yellowfin is a grand ship. I had the good fortune of helping them with their docking lines one fine evening a few years ago when they arrived at Granville Island. I'm not sure if many of you have checked out the company website, however when I went to it, I noticed right from the first line of the first paragraph some very bad grammar and as I went through each section, I uncovered many inaccuracies and have to call foul on their stated requirement of a 2.5% charge when booking trips using one's credit card. ( This 'surcharge' is not legally allowed ) I also found it strange that under the Pricing section, they list the trips that are sold out for the 2013 season and what is still available but request that you contact them for prices. I find it highly unusual that they would require prospective guests to actually call them rather than just post the company tariff schedule for each type and duration of voyage. Given the immaculate condition of the ship and the apparent skill and abilities of it's crew the company should consider having someone overhaul their website, and bring it up to the professional standards to equal the high quality of on-board services they provide for their guests. On the flip side of my opinion, given that they are almost booked solid for this years' voyages, they must be doing a few things right

A few more photos of the luxury yacht Pacific Yellowfin, seen by me at Taku Resort on Quadra Island. - July 2013. A few bow angles My warped pano shot of her, showing some of the toys on the upper deck The funnel tells us that her original use was as a US Navy ship, as a small wooden freight boat. ============ Here's an article on her: link

A couple of New Zealand yacht visitors, seen by me in Nanaimo, BC - morning of October 6, 2013 "Polar Bear" is registered in Auckland, and is a traditional mega yacht. With Pacifica tower in the background Cameron Island condos (with The Beacon tower) in background ------------------- "Kahu" is an ex navy ship, and is on a world cruise, wintering in the BC south coast area. - When I first saw this ship across the harbour, I thought "Spaulding." To quote another forum member, if asked why I'd say " I do not know." Maybe I have some sort of Spaulding syndrome where everything I see looks like it was designed by Phil. For those on FaceBook, here's a FB page on her northern trip H E R EWith Newcastle Island in the background

That Pacific Yellowfin would make a fine Horn family yacht. I am available to act in some sort of crewing role.

Polar Bear has wintered at Ship's Point Wharf in Victoria's inner harbour for the past 4 or 5 winters. While I do not know what she does each spring/summer/fall I have a feeling that she is a charter yacht, or perhaps involved in sport fishing camp operations in some remote inlets on our coast. I did see her on AIS this fall well north of Port Hardy, heading down the coast. grk in victoria

A couple photos of Pacific Yellowfin underway in Drew Harbour (Quadra Island). - from July 2013. With Rebecca Spit in the background I was hoping that timing would allow these 2 favourite ships of mine to be closer together in this shot, but at least they share the frame and are running together. - Tenaka and 'Yellowfin

The same week that Attessa was caught by the camera in Active Pass, one of Washington's other yachts arrived on the coast and transited to his North Vancouver shipyard. Attessa in the photo is 68.5 metres and the Attessa IV was 101 metres. That is a lot of yacht!!

A boat familiar to Mr Horn. Thanks for this view of her. During this past summer, she was chartered a few times for a movie or TV show. I'm not sure which show, but the yacht was busy. But I'm not sure why she was up in Kitimat area.
