At the risk of being slaughtered, again, I pass along some news. Well perhaps at this point in time just gossip. I did this several times in the past as was challenged and criticized, but my news of QPR going to Fiji and Silja Festival arriving on our coast did in deed come true. So to be mulled over, with no further comment from me, look for a major BC Ferry to be chartered for a week or so, in the not too distant future. A voyage that involves both vehicle deck space, catering and berthing. Let the speculations begin!! (there is indeed a plan B, and C should A fall apart)

Thanks for mentioning this, I will enjoy thinking about this and then paying close attention to what might happen. I appreciate the shipping-world expertise that you bring this here place, so please know that these gems of info are much appreciated. Cheers !

To start off the speculation, here are some of my ideas:
If a major ship is to be chartered for a week, soon, I'm thinking it might be either the Queen of New Westminster or the Queen of Coquitlam. ie. one of the "summer is over, so it's available" types of ships.
Or would William and Kate want something more upscale to experience the difference? Royal Visit use makes sense for this charter, so I'm thinking that C-Class or QNW won't cut the royal mustard. Perhaps they would prefer a Coastal Class experience?
Here's the Royal Visit itinerary:
There's not enough time in the above itinerary for a Royal Charter on the Royal Northern Expedition to do Inside Passage, so I'm thinking that a Royal Charter would be for use between Vancouver and Victoria, but I'm just guessing.

Hmmh. I want to hear some details on how 'grk' was slaughtered in the past. Not nearly enough blood and guts on this forum, for my liking.
Maybe there's more of these charters than we hear about. Wouldn't necessarily make the news. There is an area on their website pertaining to the charter of vessels, so it must happen some times.

Okay, I will spill the beans now ... My wife & I have chartered the Kwuna to bring us back from the Amazon to BC. Should be a fun cruise!

'Out of the ordinary' gems dug up by several of our members are a welcomed respite from servings of thoughtless drivel on some of our forum threads. Never take 'challenges and criticism' from any of our members as personal affronts as it may just be that some folks are irked that you got a 'scoop' and they didn't. That said, your news does present the opportunity for some fun here. Maybe we could start a contest of speculation, especially if the charter involves a pending Royal visit. Hmmm.

As of today, Friday Sep 16, it seems that discussions are still on going, but price seems to be a huge issue for the organizers. With no official word out by now, I would assume a Plan B has been put in place. I am off on holidays for 6 weeks and will not be able to give any update, but if it does not occur by month end, it was a wash!

Charles and Diana used Queen of the North to open Expo '86, so Northern Adventure would make sense.
