The September-October flagship is Forum Choice, where we go to the "suggestion box" and pick one of your ideas. This one is brought to you by paulvanb. Paul's idea was to do ferries from other parts of North America and the world, so the 2019 Forum Choice Theme is " Ferries From Other Places".Quite simply, we are looking for ferries anywhere other than Alaska, British Columbia, and Washington. Passenger only ferries also qualify. Normal rules apply: - the photo must be your own - Limit of 3 photos per person ----------------------------------------- Entries will be accepted until 6:00PM PDT, August 29th, 2019, followed by a 2 day voting period - Preferred banner size is 1200 x 340 (pixel size), however we will accept banners down to 1080 x 300. But 1200x340 looks best. Anything outside these dimensions will not be eligible. - Please post your entries no wider than 1024 pixels, with a link to the larger image. - Please ensure all of your links work, and your thumbnail displays properly - Please note that headers that won previously in 2017 are not eligible for re-submission For the complete Forum Flagship Rules, including the new text regulations: ferriesbc.proboards.com/thread/3510/forum-flagship-rules-information

The way things are going, reducing my choices to 3 will be difficult. Just wait until I post my Messina photos.

I have so many shots from this trip that it was hard to narrow it down, but here is my last one. (subject to change) Genoa - home of the superferry! There were at lest five in port when we were there that morning.

The 'Chi-Cheemaun' looks like it would do well on the resurrected route now plied by the 'Northern Sea Wolf'. Right size, lots of windows etc. ….Couldn't resist. darn it. Very nice little fleet of vessels operating in that part of Canada. Great photo!

Sorry to continue the off-topic banter, but as QPR mentioned she does indeed have a bow visor (as seen here, taken a little before the above photo).
Chi-Cheemaun is indeed a very nice vessel and a very pleasant trip, and is probably the most "BC Ferries-like" boat operating in Ontario in terms of both size and amenities offered, with a full cafeteria, gift shop, etc. At a listed capacity of 143 vehicles, she might be a little too large to replace the NSW - not that I'd want her put up for sale though!

How exactly is the name pronounced? The first and second syllables are pronounced nearly identically with a long "e", closer to the first part of "cheese" rather than than something like "chai". So the pronunciation would go closer to "Chee-Chee-Mon", although the second syllable has a bit more of a "jii"/"gee" sound to it. It makes a bit more sense to consider the alternate spelling of the word, which is chi-jiimaan.
(I'm not exactly an expert in pronunciation but hopefully I didn't butcher this explanation too badly...)

Thanks for that insight. I realized, looking at your reply, that since I left out punctuation in my question, your answer could have been, "not exactly at all". But no... there was no butchery in your explanation. Question answered.
