The Kuper's AIS is now showing her as PUNE LUXUTTH. Edit: She's not currently searchable on VRQS. Attachments:

Jim correctly identified it as the Coquitlam.
The thin black band on the funnel, as well as the tighter spacing of the name on the bulwark both rule out the Cowichan.

Edit: I got a nice photo of the Renaissance with tugs in the bay. Is there a way I can post it here? Click on "Add Attachment". You may upload a file that's 2 MB or less, so you may need to resize the photo being uploaded.

1. is there a way to insert a poll into this thread? 2. to keep things tidy, should this thread actually be inside that other one? 1. A poll cannot be added to an existing thread. 2. Island Ferries and Vancouver Island Ferry Company (Hullo) are two seperate companies.

Additionally, the two vessels are currently moored at Damen's Song Cam Shipyard in Hải Phòng, Vietnam.

Just to be clear. Not a word of the above was written by me. The rant is all the work of randomferryguy . I would ask him to please pull this post and redo it so that it does not appear to be quoting me. Thanks I've edited their post.

What is the font used for the ship names painted on the side of the ferries? Adobe Garamond Pro Bold Italic.

I drove down to Swartz Bay from Nanaimo early this morning for her final sailing. Needless to say it wasn't to be... Fair winds and following seas, Bowen Queen. What was the story there, Scott? It looked like the Bowen was doing some stops after the Mayne cancelled her first run... was this the Bowen Queen's last day in service? The Mayne cancelled her morning run as they were down a crew member. Once the Bowen was operational, it departed Fulford Harbour and deadheaded to Village Bay to sail the Mayne's scheduled 0850 to Lyall Harbour and 0940 back to Village Bay. After dropping off that traffic for transfer later to the Cumberland, the Bowen deadheaded back to Fulford Harbour and called it a career. From everything I've heard, yes, today was her last day in service. She will move to Deas shortly.

Following the tug’s AIS, she appears to have been towed to the wharf adjacent to the old mill north of Campbell River, alongside the Royal City Star. Confirmed. This is the best shot I could get from the highway without trespassing on private property. She's at the northern end of this ship graveyard alongside the former CCGS Provo Wallis. Then it begs the question ... The Coastals were billed as operable on all major routes from all major terminals. Here we are 12 years later and obviously that has not happened. I cannot find anything stating they were to be operable on all major routes from all major terminals when new. Designed for and operable on all major routes, yes, but nothing about being operable on all major routes by all major terminals. Where did you hear/see this? So Scott in the summer (and other busy periods) they have to crew 4 vessels (2 ships route 1, 1 ship route 30 & 1 ship route 9A). How do they manage that? They’ll assemble three crews to each of those two additional vessels before they enter service in the peak season. I’d like to bring attention to the fact that this is a service notice thread. Discussion in regards to employment/crewing should take place in the appropriate thread.

It is my understanding that Tsawwassen crews go back & forth between route 1 & 30 ships routinely. Are you sure that that does not happen? That does not happen. There are three permanent crews dedicated only to the Route 30 vessel and three permanent crews dedicated only to the Route 1 vessel. While some casual (on-call) employees may be trained to work on some or all vessels out of Tsawwassen, the entire Tsawwassen-based Route 30 crew compliment is only certified for the Alberni and New West.

I believe it's because the Tsawwassen-based route 30 crews aren't certified on the Coastals or the original C's....at least that was the case in the past. Since the New West is in refit, that would leave them with no other options. What you say used to be true, but in recent years the Coastal Renaissance has subbed for the Spirit of BC during slower parts of the year, and during refits. When that happens she is crewed out of Tsawwassen. FerryFanYVR is correct. Tsawwassen's Route 1 crews are trained on a Coastal. Their Route 30 crews are not.

I’ve attached a screen shot of the conditions you must accept prior to placing a reservation. I'd also like to further emphasize that sailings are scheduled, not "guaranteed to depart at". If the scheduled sailing you reserved departed late with both you and your vehicle aboard, your reservation was exercised fully and completely. Attachments:
