I like the Alberni I was on her yesterday from Departure Bay. It was not full but I was outside most of the time so not too bad. I do prefer it when it’s not full. What is the reasoning for it being on route 2? Not a smart choice much better suited for route 30.

They’ve had two on route 9 before one out of Long Harbour and one out of Tsawwassen but this summer there are three one at LH then two based out of Tsawwassen. They can crew two out of Tsawwassen but can’t have one out of Swartz Bay. Seems odd they have two based out of Tsawwassen this summer. Unless I’m wrong but check the reservations.

If it says two different ships it’s probably a transfer most likely at Village Bay. So you’d probably be on both those ships. If it’s a transfer or multiple port sailing it’ll say view itinerary.

All you have to do is go to the fare calculator and put in the date and it’ll show you the sailings and fares and what ship it will be but yeah it’ll be the Cumberland. Unfortunately the Heron is on route 9 I have no idea why they need two Salish boats out of Tsawwassen. We were suppose to have the Raven on route 5 this summer but that was screwed up.

I understand the crewing issues but they are swapping ships so I would assume the Cumberland crew would be on the Salish plus a few more crew so it shouldn’t be too hard cause I think the Mayne Queen crew would go to the Cumberland if I’m correct?? Or is the Cumberland crew going to be on the Cumberland when she takes over for the Mayne being it’s pretty much the same route.

Nice so BC Ferries can crew a second Salish out of Tsawwassen but can’t crew a Salish out of Swartz Bay. That’s bull sorry I’m a little annoyed at that cause we were suppose to have a Salish on route 5 starting in spring. But now who knows when that will happen.

There won’t be 3 Salish on route 9. One is going to route 5. I heard the Raven but it could be any Salish so that leaves two for route 9 cause the other Salish is on the Powell River run.

According to the Fulford Ferry Cam she’s sitting at Fulford right now. She was out earlier doing what I don’t know. She was suppose to do a round trip for the Skeena today but never did. Not sure the reason for that.

youtube.com/c/SoloTravelJapan I just found this channel on YouTube! It’s traveling around on mainly overnight ferries in Japan. It’s pretty neat to see the different ships and routes. If anyone is interested in ferries in Japan you should check out this channel.

I heard the volume loads were really low due to lack of notice. I don’t even think there were any trucks on the southbound trip. That’s what I heard.

Maid was filmed mostly in Victoria is what I have read and been told! Scenes around Victoria on the Pat Bay Highway, a house in Langford and the Walmart parking lot and also Esquimalt Lagoon were all in the series! Swartz Bay was indeed the ferry station. I would assume they had to film that overnight cause in those scenes you see all the chairs in the berth 1 lounge are gone! Berth 2 walkway was used too. Great series I watched the whole thing it’s neat to see local areass used in film!

Just curious is the Tachek out for the summer?? Is the QQ2 the summer boat for the Cortez run??? I see the Tachek is at Buckley Bay right now. I was wondering cause I might try and get back to Quadra and it would be cool to get a ride on the QQ2 if she is still there the BC Day weekend.

What is peak travel times on that route?? What about like a Saturday Sunday? I’m sure the last two sailings of the day from either side aren’t that busy!

Does anyone know what the Mill Bay Ferry is like right now as far as traffic??? Especially the first two sailings of the day from Brentwood Bay during mid week?? Is the ferry running at full capacity?? Going to be heading up to Lake Cowichan and thought about taking the longer way via Brentwood Bay Ferry seeing that might be the only ferry I could really take right now. I don't wanna get out there though to find it's full.

I second that I don’t get this schedule right now especially seeing the Renaissance is not doing anything else at the moment.

I have been wondering this too. Why can’t they just use the Renaissance?? It’s not like she’s doing anything else.

Merry Christmas to everyone on the forum. Like everyone else my ferry trips are significantly down this year too. I can pretty much count how many I have done which I could never do before cause I usually do so many in a year. Total this year so far are 17 trips. I don’t count individual sailings I do it by trips meaning round trips. Since June I have only done the route 1 ships and route 5 on the Cumberland. Let’s hope 2021 will be a better year.
