Chris, I'm pretty certain that the only time the Queen of Tsawwassen was ever on route five was during Expo, summer of '86, when she did the route with Queen of The Islands. I don't think the ' Sidney ever did it. Thank you, Neil. I didn't know the specifics on the date, especially since I wasn't quite around for the time...but I also didn't realize that the Queen of the Islands was in the mix for that as well. That would have been alot of extra crew and amenities for that route compared to what we see today with the Mayne and Cumberland
The Queen of Tsawwassen was the Summer Route 5 ship from 1986-1990. Mayne Queen did 5A as she does today. In the Summer of 1991, the 'Wack was used sending the Tsawwassen over to 9A tandem with Nanny.

In the first photo, with the lack of pipes visible over the rim of the funnel, has to be either the Saanich or Esquimalt. The second is definitely the Tsawwassen.

She's been going in and out of range it seems every 2 hours. The seas must be deteriorating quickly as a cargo ship she was near by is hardly making headway.

Queen of Cowichan is outside Deas and is being readied for the tow into the basin likely berth 4 that the 'Wack has just vacated.

If you have a look at the Kahloke promo photo from 1953, zoom-in and you can see these openings were in place since her rebuild. The difference being, solid-plate doors were used as they were located immediately inside the lounges.

I've seen photos from Sunday that show the Burnaby still at Deas Dock. That wasn't the 'Burnaby, it was the Queen of Richmond.

Here's Gordon Wilson's group reply to my photo question, on their Facebook page. That was quite a disrespectful reply from an organization that appears to be led by a prominent ex-politician in Mr. Wilson. I unfortunately joined this group. Seeing this response I am immediately leaving this group in protest!

If you were to stretch the Sidney class, the stretch would have to be made behind the funnel. This of course, would disturb the engines and shafting. I also think there was an issue with them being of a narrower beam than the 7 Sisters. In a nutshell, stretching became impractical.

You mis-understood what WCK was getting at, 4 V's + 1 B = 5 ships on Route 1 (the most likely scenario). You are correct that Nanny has never served on Route 5.

How about nothing at all and enjoy the scenery? I guess that's what all of us ferry fans would vote for! I would have a hard time enjoying a good ferry trip with out a good old bacon cheese burger, and I don't think I am alone on that one! Cheeseburger in Paradise!

Lol! Hilarious! Wondering how she could chain herself without anyone seeing it though. This is what happens when there is no Pacific Buffet.

Wett Coast - This is a neat shot. I thought the Queen of Nanaimo was operating on Tsawassen-S.G.I. by 1986. Any idea what she was doing in Departure Bay? Keep in mind, Queen of Nanaimo was only used on Route 9 during the Summer at that time. In the off season, Queen of Tsawwassen was the main Route 9 ship. Here, it looks like she's been freshly repainted in the Expo colours so, she may just be covering some extra sailings on Route 2.

It should be possible. All that really matters is that a fare is being collected, regardless if it was was from a toll booth or onboard.

Jordan, Curtis, Ernie, and I had that with our dinner at The Ravenous Raven on Texada Island on the Circle Pac in September. Very Yummy! A nice sipping ale.
