I guess EGFleet is having quite a time revamping his web site. Evergreenfleet had to change webhosting services for the first time in almost 20 years and rebuild everything from the ground up. Yikes. No backup?

The text, yes, largely, but it has to be cleaned up in Word before I can transfer it because the archaic program I was using puts the html tags in it. So it's a slow process. I'm amazed I've gotten as much back up as I have.

I appreciate so much your efforts in getting it up and running again.

I've shown you a purchased postcard view of Mount Index on Page 61 of this thread. That was more like a summer view. From about the same camera location, we see this great mountain with a nice decent dressing of snow! This purchased postcard photo was taken most likely before or after the heavy snowfall season. Part of the Great Northern Railway tracks is shown. This is from the west side. The track follows alongside this part of the Skykomish River before it does a horseshoe curve in the neat little town of Index and continues to Baring and Skykomish. After the former western electrified terminus, the route does another horseshoe curve over the Foss River Trestle and continues climbing the grade up to Scenic. Then the 7.79 mile long Cascade Tunnel (II), Eastern Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois. Oh, yes! The sky was blue when this photo was taken. ENJOY!

So, would the emergency dock at Porteau Cove qualify as a BC Ferries terminal?

Coming back from Bowen Island this afternoon, the lineups for this weekend were already starting. In the lineup were a couple of vaction trailers and campers. I thought they were not allowed on board at this time?

Within the Lower Mainland people are allowed to travel within/between 2 health regions: Vancouver Coastal and Fraser Health. (Vancouver Coastal I believe extends to include Powell River) ... go figure.

Said vehicles were in the first lane for the ticket booths.

Here's another purchased postcard of magnificent Mount Index. This was taken east of the town of Index WA. The above photo of this mountain and Skykomish River had a date written on it as August 1957. That might have been the purchase date from the first owner of that one. This one you see might have been taken in the 1950s as well. This is the back side of the mountain opposite of the side you see from Seattle. This side shows the beauty of this towering earthly masterpiece!Oh, yes, the sky was mostly blue in this photo.

FNS: re Mount Index, how did it get that unusual name? Is there a nearby mountain named 'Mount Table of Contents'? Or maybe it was just someone's surname?

FNS: re Mount Index, how did it get that unusual name? Is there a nearby mountain named 'Mount Table of Contents'? Or maybe it was just someone's surname? Greetings, "WettCoast"! There you have it. How that mountain was named as an "index finger rising to the sky". Quite neat that this small town gets to see the northern premier passenger train pass once through each direction each day. The Empire Builder train, that is. Despite the small size, Index has its own general store, a post office (inside the store), a park named Doolittle Pioneer Park, and a school besides recreational facilities. And, it's a place to "do little" and just take in the scenery of the towering mountains and enjoy watching the water flow down the North Fork of the Skykomish river (perhaps seeing fish as well). www.experiencewa.com/cities/indexwww.historylink.org/file/9143This is why I love going there. The mountain, the scenery, getting a sandwich in the general store and sitting next to the river having my lunch, watching trains and hearing their whistles echoing off the mountain walls, and taking a slow drive on Reiter Road back to US2 on my way home.

So, who is everyone cheering for in Euro 2020? (in 2021) I don't have a Euro favorite, per se, but it sure is nice to see Italy back in a prominent role. It's also nice to watch a level of soccer that's so much better than the dreary stuff the Vancouver Whitecaps dish out match after match. I am getting increasingly optimistic about Canada's chances of qualifying for the next World Cup. They've beaten a lot of minnows so far, but for the first time in decades it seems that this country's men actually have some talent, and are capable of doing more than just sending long random balls downfield in the hope that someone might get under them, which was pretty much all we accomplished back in '86.

The wheels were coming off Canada's defensive structure, and things were looking a little more like the world's tenth best national team against the fiftieth. Still... this is a team to be proud of. For most of the game, they were creative, assertive, and had at least half the possession. Full value for the win. I wasn't clear on what was happening at half time with the homophobic chants from some of the Mexican 'fans'. Were people thrown out of the stadium? Was the team warned? The broadcast duo didn't really specify.

So, you'd kinda have to be under a rock for the last couple weeks to not have heard about it (I mean Global reported about it on the 6:00 PM news hour…) but have you guys seen the barge on the shore in English Bay? It's pretty off topic, but I'm just curious. I haven't had the time to go down there myself but from what it sounds like, it'll be there for quite a while so I guess I hardly have to rush. Just in case you have been under a rock, literally searching "Vancouver barge" on Google images will show you the one I mean.

They have decided to leave it there & lease it to McDonald's for another McBarge restaurant.

Did one last Trader Joe's run yesterday before they introduce the mandatory PCR test again. The staff I spoke to were disappointed that this was being reintroduced. One of the managers told me that they had ordered extra stuff for us Canadians to purchase.

I've been thinking about that for a while, and y'know it's not the fact they reintroduced the mandatory testing, it's more that they did it with little notice. Consistency is my issue. I have more complaints than just that, of course I do, I could go on for hours about the government's mistakes but this is a forum about ferries. No one wants to hear my pessimistic rants regardless of the place.

Is this a good time to ask forum member Neil if there are ferries in North Macedonia? (I waited until after the Canada - Jamaica match, to ask this).

Is this a good time to ask forum member Neil if there are ferries in North Macedonia? (I waited until after the Canada - Jamaica match, to ask this). Oh my. I hadn't been following European qualifying, so I hadn't heard about the latest Italian catastrophe. Two World Cups in a row with Italy out. Even though thirteen European teams make it, that's still not enough. Every cycle some really good nations lose out. But you know what? Canadians no longer have to look to Europe for our soccer inspiration. Our men's team isn't just fairly good- they're also exciting. Costa Rica was fortunate to beat a charging Canadian side that was down a man for 55 minutes, and today Jamaica was definitely far inferior. Granted, things will be very different in Qatar, but this is a side to believe in. The account of the Italy loss reminds me of Seattle's playoff loss to Real Salt Lake last year. You can have all the flair, domination and even the shots, but if you don't convert your chances, well... arrivederci.
