State Rooms & Conference Room Reservations Posted December 07, 2006 Tsawwassen - Southern Gulf Islands
Beginning today, Thursday, December 7th, BC Ferries will be accepting reservations for state rooms and one conference room on the Queen of Nanaimo.
State rooms can hold approximately four people and are equipped with a table and seating. The conference room offers a boardroom table and chairs and can accommodate up to ten people. Both state rooms and the conference room are located on Deck 5 and removed from regular passenger traffic to ensure privacy and minimal noise.
Prices for reserving a state room or the conference room are as follows:
State Room Conference Room $15.00 per room $40.00 per reservation
Customers interested in reserving either a state room or the on-board conference room in advance can do so by calling BC Ferries Customer Service at 1-888-BC FERRY. Customers on-board can book rooms through the Passages Gift Shop.
The Queen of Nanaimo will be returning to service mid-December between Tsawwassen and the Southern Gulf Islands.
BC Ferries is proud to continue providing our customers with improved on-board facilities and services

I guess they've decided to convert the upper aft lounge into a conference room, unless there's some sort of room we don't know about, which could be class as a conference room, right behind the bridge. But as far as I know, its just state rooms, and crew offices, so I doubt there could be a conference room there.
Very interesting.....

You've got to be kidding, they better not do that, I like the upper lounge and it is good to have in the summer cause it prevents crowds. Besides, it has been recently refurbished anyways.

unless they are dropping the "A" liciense passenger capacity the upper aft lounge will not be a conference room. there are staterooms behind the bridge that have always been there and this is the likely area for the conference room

Amusing to see that BC Ferries says their staterooms hold "approximately" four people. What's variable about such a small number? Does that mean maybe four regular sized people, or three fat ones, or five really skinny ones?
Good to see they're offering this service, and promoting it. Whatever way they can maximize revenue by offering extra services to those who want to pay a bit more, good for them.

When I read the service notice I figured it was the upper lounge being used as the conference room.

Only the update is available, but the first notice is still listed.

The one thing I disagree about with the K-Class, is the fact they only have 2 RADs.
Service Interruption Posted December 10, 2006 Chemainus - Thetis Island - Kuper Island
The Klitsa is currently experiencing technical challenges between Chemainus, Thetis Island and Kuper Island.
The vessel is expected to depart Chemainus at 3:30 pm as scheduled with assistance and will be running to a modified schedule for the remainder of the day.
BC Ferries apologizes for any inconvenience to our customers.

It has begun. Now that the Kuper is finished and launched they can start construction of the Intermidiate Vessel. This means that the Queen of Tsawwassen's regular service life is near it's end in two years.

Well, apparently they weren't smart enough to build it larger, as this new ferry will hold 125 vehicles and 600 passengers; wheras the Queen of Tsawwassen holds 128 cars and 809 passengers... the Tsawwassen is also longer, faster, and has a full sized Cafeteria, as opposed to this ship which claims to have a Snack Bar.
Hmmm....

Hmmm.... So does that mean that the Q-Tsawwassen was too much ship for the route (ignoring her old age condition). Will the new ship be more suited for this short route? That route had the PRQ for many years, and that presumably was enough-ship for most of the time. Likely this new "smaller than Tsawwassen" ship will be enough, too.

I am disappointed. They had originals served in that cafeteria. Even grilled chicken, fresh caesar salad too. Looks like BCFS getting rid of the past. I am curious fluge, does this remind you of what the Inner Party did in 1984? (Orwell's novel that is)

I'll pass on the Orwell item, as I'm not very up-to-speed on the 1984 book.....although I did read part of it back in 1984.
However, I agree that the original, non-whitespot/villages/breadgarden are being phased out, and that's a loss of food-heritage.

Ok, so obviously it's a typo. But it would be pretty interesting if the Klitsa got blown from Chemainus to Crofton.
