Saturday nite vessle repositions:
On Feb 10 The Queen of Coquitlam tied up at Duke Point about 7:45pm to wait untill the Queen of Cowichan arrives at Departure Bay from her 9pm trip from Horseshoe Bay. At about 10:10pm Aprox, The Queen of Coquitlam departed Duke Point and Checked out of Victoria Traffic about 1/2 hour later at Departure Bay, She is replacing the Queen of Cowichan for a few days. The Queen of Cowichan is tied up at Berth 1 DB. See terminal Web Cam.
The Queen of Esquimalt arrived at Tsawwassen around 10:35pm at the end of the 9pm trip from Swartz Bay. She did not check out and indicated to Traffic that another crew will board her and sail her to Duke Point around 11pm. Sure enough she did depart Tsawwassen just past 11pm for Duke Point with A Nanaimo based Crew.

Does this not almost always happen after a refit? Sure as heck seems to! Is refit some kind of code for "R"eady "E"quipment "F"or "I"mmediate "T"ouchups ;D Must be something along those lines ........

There is no service notice about it which I dont think there would be as it's just a different V class but according to the current conditions and the RBI the Queen of Vancouver is taking over for the Queen of Saanich which was taking over for the SOVI. The Vancouver will be sailing at 3pm from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen and for the rest of the day and all day tommorrow! Then the Saanich will be back and running on Thursday. What is up with the Saanich??? Anyone know?

This morning both the SOVI and Cap arrived here in Esquimalt. There are currently 3 BC Ferries here (SOVI, Cap, NA), which is pretty rare.

She was at TSA till her last departure at 11:50pm last night. I saw her when I was leaving on the 9pm Queen of Saanich. I came over earlier on the 10:25am Queen of Esquimalt and she was fine then. They must be working her too hard! She has been running every day bascially since Jan 1st! They should use the Saanich on route 30! Run the Vancouver to replace the SOVI and use the Esquimalt as the extra out of Swartz Bay!

Queen of Burnaby Refit: February 25th Posted February 23, 2007 Comox - Powell River On February 25th, the Queen of Burnaby will be removed from service to undergo annual refit. This refit work is expected to be completed by late May and will involve upgrades to passenger accommodations, installations of a car deck ventilation system and state of the art oily water separator, and regular annual service and regulatory requirements. During this time, BC Ferries is pleased to supply the Queen of Tsawwassen as the replacement vessel between Comox and Powell River. The Queen of Tsawwassen will begin service with the 6:30 am scheduled sailing from Comox. All sailings will remain as scheduled. Passengers are advised that the Queen of Tsawwassen is a smaller vessel and vehicle overloads may occur. Where possible, passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider car pooling, traveling outside of peak sailing times, and arriving at the terminal early for their desired sailing. Large groups are also encouraged to coordinate travel well in advance by calling 1-888-BC FERRY. BC Ferries looks forward to returning the Queen of Burnaby back to service following the completion of work on the vessel. Looks like the Queen of TSA will be on the Powell River to Comox route for a while. Anyone up for a trip to Powell River? ?? Or should we wait till the NIP is out?? Would be cool if the NIP was out the same time as the TSA was on the Powell River route!

Is this supposed to be the Burnabys 3/4 life upgrade? I thought they were doing this next year.

Is this supposed to be the Burnabys 3/4 life upgrade? I thought they were doing this next year. Wouldn't doubt it. it's either that or they're re-opening the upper deck lounges. The Queen of Burnaby and NIP always go out around this time So it's kind of ideal that it goes out for a giant upgrade. And the refit period always goes through Spring Break. I guess I'll be seeing more of the Queen of Tsawwassen for the next while. and we'll be seeing some Ferry Trip Oppertunities in the Coming months, Especially When the NIP goes for Refit. Can't wait till she's going to be done if it is her 3/4 Life Upgrade.

Read this, how much more stupider can they get?? Sailing delay Mayne Queen, then they say the Nanaimo is running late, lol!
Sailing Delay: Mayne Queen Posted February 23, 2007 Swartz Bay - Southern Gulf Islands
The Queen of Nanaimo is running approximately 20 minutes behind schedule due to an earlier mechanical issue. It is expected that the vessel will make up some of this time throughout the evening.
BC Ferries apologizes to our customers for any inconvenience experienced as a result of this delay.

I suppose that the Q-Burnaby will be sailing south in Georgia Strait, sometime on Sunday Feb.25th, on her way to ?? for refit.
It will likely be overcast in the area tomorrow....otherwise it might be a good shipspotting opportunity from Nanaimo's shore.
Mrs.Horn is a frequent user of the Burnaby....and she was interest in the possible passenger-area changes. She "interested" to know what the changes are, as she likes the Burnaby the way that she currently is.

So it will be quite likely that she will just head for Deas.

Replacement Vessel for the Queen of Esquimalt Posted February 24, 2007 February 27 & 28 Anyone have any idea what they managed to break on the Queen of Esquimalt this time? I would figure that whatever they jury-rigged after she broke down last week needs some more attention and a more permanent fix than bailing wire, duct tape and chewing gum....
