According to BC Ferries scheduling the NA day cruises start May 18th. They also have the Rupert sailing May 19th on the Inside Passge too but doing all the mid coast stops. So they have the Rupert and NA on the Inside Passage at the same time. Anyone know why they are doing this??

That is what the Nimpkish is up there for I think. She does the mid coast stops. Unless she isent up there for some reason.

Looks like May 19th is the QPR coming back from refit - heading north to Prince Rupert to go back on the Charlottes run. And the Nor Ad is heading south to Port Hardy starting the Inside Passage run for the summer season (after doing both runs from today til May 18th while the QPR is in refit).

I wonder why I get the feeling that there is a ferry trip coming up

The Nimkish is in service on the central coast until May 16, when the QPR returns. After that the QPR will make one round trip per week to Port Hardy making central coast calls en route. That lasts until the Chilliwack starts its summer Discovery Coast season in early June.
I assume that the Nimpkish will be required on the Central Coast next fall as the QPR is to be idle, apparently, over most of next fall and winter. The NorAd will provide service through most of the next 'off season'.

re the radio story on NorAd (interview done during Prince Rupert open house...or so it sounds).
- Interesting that they aren't allowed to use the escelator in BC, because it's too steep. I hadn't head that before.
- It is a SOLAS ship.
- It has covered lifeboats
- the crews say that she's a very comfortable ship in rough weather.
- the journalist was lamenting the lack of an arcade.

There must be an elevator from the vehicle deck for elderly and wheelchairs. No sense having wheel chair accessible staterooms if you have to hoist them over the side . I remember going up the stairs on the QoftN. It was a long climb with a heavy suitcase.
