Is it true that Cascade brokered the deal??

No doubt that the Sun's ace reporter Loo Flirpa will be covering this story.

oh I'm looking forward to hearing the public outcry on this! There is no doubt that our fares will get higher however, I think the onboard services will be vastly improved. Could we possibly see a bar on the southern routes?

Hmmm. Does anyone find this ironic that this is being announced on the day before the 5 year anniversary of the privitization of the Ferries? Now I'm very curious to find out the details on this supposed "sale". So far, it feels very "wrong" to me.
EDIT: On second thought, the initial post coming from kylefosset wouldn't surprise me if this is an April fools joke, based on some of his previous posts in the past. The second post following this initial post is a comment made by the King of Sarcasm himself.
I won't lie though, I was half asleep when I first read this post, and was immediately awake when I saw the title.

Turns out it wasn't a joke after all, despite the date. Jack Webster was interviewing David Hahn this morning on CJOR. P&O has an excellent record in the ferry industry in Europe, and I for one am happy this sham private company will now be a real private company. Governments can't manage peanut stands, let alone transportation firms- hopefully the bus system will be the next to be unloaded.
Hahn was saying that P&O already has a replacement for the 'Chilliwack- it's the Pride of Wessex, currently on the Dover to Prague route. 150 car capacity, proper bow and stern, somewhat faster, and open water capable. Nice looking boat- picture on the 'fakta om fartyg' site, and on P&O's roster page.
Good news all around.

The synergy with P&O will be fantastic. Having had so much experience with the British, French and Irish they'll have the fares up here in a few months.
Let's see the route P&O uses to Prague. Probably DENelson and Ferrynut can come up with the charts.
The BCF/P&O linkup could lead to some new routes, but most hopefully we could have duty free shopping and gambling sprees past the 12 mile limit. That should produce enough revenue to reduce fares or eliminate them altogether!
With P&O's cruise and ferry engineering experience the Spirit ships, could be beefed up for a Hawaii service. This was mentioned at Hahn's press conference and I later heard that Premier Campbell got quite excited about going to Hawaii with out leaving "BC soil", so to speak.
It will be really interesting to see how this thing plays out.

I guess he got the scoop. re the Dover to Prague route: If a ferry can do that route, then I think it can do any route that the Province of BC has. Perhaps the Balfour to Squamish route?

Yeah, this is great news. I can't believe my good luck that I took a ferry ride last night on the last day BC Ferries was a "public" system. But I've got even better news. P&0 loves ferry geeks and they contacted me and want to create an official ferry fan club where members get discounts and possibly access to bridge tours and corporate events! In fact, the vice president of P&0 has said the company will cover the costs of moving this forum to v-Bulletin!
P.S. I hear the Queen of New Westminster and Queen of Oak Bay will be the first with the new paint jobs! Keep an eye out next time you're at Lonsdale!

P&O found BC Ferries in the Clearance bin at Superstore.
You can also start finding provincial services at Costco too, called the "Province Value Pack." BC now available in Bulk!

It got me for about 10 minutes this morning. Before I realized it was April fools and that it said nothing on the BCF website.
Good one,

Somehow I figured it out; the coffee must've kicked in in a timely fashion today. ;D
But now that it isn't the first of April anymore, can we cease and de-Biff? ;D ;D

I'm not sure were to put this question but this page seems like the right one. The Queen of Oak Bay is back in service I seen on the current conditions page the other day, Did she get a new paint job with BCF being completely private now?

Almost as brash as the all too authentic proposal for the lacking colour scheme for BC Transit as seen aboard atleast one massive potential Jackson Pollock painting canvas of a double decker bus in Victoria: flickr.com/photos/bcpaterson/2477030230/in/pool-vrtsWell done.

Ah yes, I saw that bus the other day, and madly took photos of it. I am not impressed. If you don't like it, why were you madly taking photos of it? That sounds something like the phrase I hate you so much that I love you. The green and pink scheme looks almost inviting. At least it's a little bit of a step closer back towards the Expo colors.
