First an inconvenience and rather harsh reality
Port Townsend /Keystone - Nisqually Elevator Out of Service The elevator on the Nisqually is out of service through the weekend.
Now the rumor
Motorcycle Policy Washington State Ferries recently announced a new motorcycle policy based on what we perceived as the correct interpretation of recent line cutting legislation. We were wrong. Our motorcycle policies will continue as before while WSF reviews motorcycle fare collection procedures in relation to the new fare collection system. We apologize for any concerns our previous e-mail alert may have caused you.
and for your convenience
Edmonds/Kingston - Late 20 min The 3:05pm will be 20 minutes late because the crew was assisting a boater in distress. This will affect the 3:45pm sailing from Kingston. We will try to make-up the time.

A one hour wait is anticipated for traffic departing the Vashon terminal. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
(I wonder if this was caused by one of those idiots that drive down the hill (northbound) in the left uphill (southbound) lane when going around the lineup)
Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth - Kitsap Late
The 11:30am departure from Southworth left 18 minutes late due to accident requiring the Vashon terminal to operate off generator power and single-lane loading and off-loading. Delays are anticipated until normal operations resume. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Both the Kitsap and Issaquah are operating 18-20 min. behind schedule due to vehicle accident requiring the Vashon terminal to operate on generator power and single-lane loading and off-loading. Delays are anticipated until normal operations resume. We apologize for any inconvenience.

According to the schedule, the Evergreen is at Friday Harbor around 8 and there is no trip back to Anacortes. Interesting. I never noticed that the interisland boat does that last late night trip. How long has this been going on? I am fairly certain that is a fueling trip. The Illahee (the normal inter-island ferry) is not allowed to cross Rosario Strait with passengers/cars any longer, so that could be why there is nothing on the schedule. If there were any overflows yesterday they might have sent passengers on the Evergreen on the way in, since she doesn't have that restriction. Barnacle can confirm that for sure though.

The Illahee (the normal inter-island ferry) is not allowed to cross Rosario Strait with passengers/cars any longer, so that could be why there is nothing on the schedule. The problem with that logic is that they carry passengers on the westbound leg, even with the Illahee. ;D As for positioning, we are actually a beta-test site for a teleportation device like you've seen on Star Trek. Oddly enough, it only works on non-living tissue, so we can't send the crew with it and a crew has to meet the boat in Anacortes. It was really embarassing the first time the receiving teleporter missed by about fifty feet and the captain and chief engineer had to swim out to the boat. The telemetry system has improved considerably since then, thankfully. No, seriously, the crew schedule leaves one crew needing to get its fifth shift of the week in, so they are used to run in to Anacortes on Friday nights and pick up any leftover traffic. I'm not sure if they even fuel on that trip any more as we periodically haul tankers of diesel out to the island, but I would suspect they still do fuel her up while she's in town.
