Oh, joy. I wonder how my sled-of-the-week is doing on her schedule? ;D

I think you may want to keep the Evergreen up there for awhile. If we don't have to use her.

I'd be happy to keep her as the primary inter-island sled, frankly, but I don't have that kind of clout with WSF.

Some good news...
What exactly happened to the Quinault anyway?

I am guessing the Elwha wants service and her wrath is being taken on by the rest of the fleet.

Similar situation as to what happened to the Illahee... Ugh... so that makes the Nisqually the only steel-electric to not get knocked out of service this year due to hull damage/breach. Could explain why WSF didn't mention why the Quinault went out of service. They probably don't want to mention that another steel-electric had hull problems.

A good note but I got a question, is this just for the fireworks show or something?
July 4th - Seattle/ Bremerton Route Due to holiday crowds and traffic, there will be an extra sailing from Bremerton to Seattle at 10:10pm and an extra sailing from Seattle to Bremerton at 11:30pm.
I was down at the waterfront park today and the sealth sure wasnt full.

According to the schedule, it's the Nisqually that's having mechanical problems.

Can someone say classic car rally?
Edmonds Terminal On the morning of Friday, July 13, beginning at 7:00am the Edmonds-Kingston route should expect to see busy to possible overloading conditions by the 9:20 a.m. sailing. This will be due to an estimated 350-500 Ford Mustangs.

Its called "Pony Trails". It is part of an all weekend car show, the actual show is at Bellevue Community College Saturday and Sunday. They switch the Pony Trails route every year. They have done the Hwy 2/I-90 loop, a Mt. Rainer run, a run along Chunckanut (sp?) Drive. This year they are doing the Edmonds Ferry then around the Narrows.

Nothing on the WSF site, but all the boats leaving Seattle tonight are using the Bremerton slip...they are stopping short of the dock and waiting for the other boat to leave.

A diving incident? What the heck is a diving incident? Sometimes the unanswered questions are more interesting than the answered ones.

Probably means that a diver got too close to the ferry dock.

There is a diver's "park" to the north of the Edmonds ferry dock.

Oops....
The M/V Puyallup left 25 minutes late due to a trailer that came un-hitched from it's vehicle, and heavy traffic. This will affect the 11:30am sailing from Edmonds and the 12:10pm sailing from Kingston. There is currently a 1 hour hour wait at the Kingston Terminal.

Better to have it happen there instead of on the freeway. Scary.

Question for those in the know:
I see similar notices occasionally, but for delays not nearly as long. It's been a bunch of years since I've been to Sidney from Anacortes (mostly timing issues), but just what is the issue there?
Is it that there is not enough room to get the cars off the boat until some of them get through customs?
Is it a Customs staffing issue? (I have a story I could tell about spending forever and a day at the Victoria Express dock in Port Angeles because a Customs employee or 2 didn't show up for work that day.)
Or is it something even more exciting that I'm missing here? (Probably not, but I was curious.)

So much for better maintenance
Port Townsend / Keystone - One Boat Service Due to a steering problem the M/V Illahee is out of service until further notice. An alternate route is Edmonds/Kingston. Updates will occur as the conditions change.

Question for those in the know: It's been a bunch of years since I've been to Sidney from Anacortes (mostly timing issues), but just what is the issue there? Heightened security since 9/11. Remember, several years back a fellow got caught taking in explosive materials from Canada into the US, although it was on the Coho. I've had the feeling since that incident Canadian customs is being a bit more careful at the ferry landings. The man in question slipped through the Canadian side and got on the Coho without difficulty and didn't get caught until he got to Port Angeles. No. Even a full load is not backed up onto the boat. It only takes a few minutes usually to clear the ramp. In addition, this is why there is nearly an hour layover scheduled at Sidney, to get people through customs processing. If Canadian Customs decides they don't want to let someone in (usually because of a DUI) we take them back to Anacortes with us. No, not usually. 99.9% of the time it is because customs agents have specifically targeted someone are being very thorough and doing a closer inspection. Yesterday's incident was something more exciting, but I'm not going to say more unless I see it in the press. Some things they like to keep under wraps for a bit.
