We have some a culture of ferry nicknames on this board, whether it be a simple acronym or a shortened version of the official name.
Examples: - HSQ - Cappy - Cumbie - Nanny - Slurry Girl - Suzy-Q
What about the upcoming new ferries?
- May I suggest the "Coastal Senility", for the possible "Coastal-Serenity".
- Will we speak of the 3 Super-C's as "CR", "CC" & "CI" ?
- Will we call the Coastal-Renaissance the "Queen of DaVinci"?
any thoughts?

aha, the German angle to nicknames for the Super-C's:
- das Fest (Celebration)
- das Einatmen (Inspiration)
Coastal is translated "Küsten"
So we will have das Küsten-Fest soon.

I was wondering if anyone would nickname a Super-C the "Bismarck".....it wouldn't be funny to anyone related to those who served on HMS Hood, but maybe enough time has passed since WWII ?
Only thing is, we'll have 4 Bismarck's soon.
Maybe we can go: - Bismarck, and then have some auto names like Mercedes, or Daimler ?

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking C1?" "I think I am C2!" "Let's destroy Sewells Marina!!"
For those who can remember the stupid Ausralian kids show that my granparents taped for me when I was 4, this jokes for you.
C3 and C4? They went to go crush some pleasure crafts.

Maybe we should just call them the Banana Class. Two Official Songs Would Be the Bananas In Pajama's Super C Class Theme, And Even the Banana Phone Song Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Ring Banana Phone! We might as well change the Topic Name to Banana.

Class-B Teen takes the blame for this thread going off-topic.
I re-read the first few posts, and I can't figure out what caused Mainlander-Michael to go off on his banana tangent.
I was off on a war-history kick, talking about Bismarck and HMS Hood......then CNR & Kyle weighed in with contributions....and then it went bananas after that.
......a silly diversion from a weak summer's topic.
Can anyone think of a nickname for the Sonia? Assuming that BC purchases her, she will likely be renamed. But us ultra-smart people will likely still refer to her as "Sonia" or some sonia-based-nickname, in order to show-off our ferry history knowledge (much like I try to do by calling Q-North the S-Danica).
Google always seems like the best road to finding a solution: - typing "sonia" into Google yields some very interesting websites and images. Seemingly there are many naked or near naked persons named "Sonia". I guess our club nickname for the new ferry "sonia" would be something like "Britain's Premier Fetishist" (who knew there was such an occupation or calling??).
Sorry to arrive at this dead end.

Okay then What should we call the Sonia. Or I should say Sonia-X. Maybe something like the Son.(edit) or SonX

Sorry to let this thread kind of drift off into the abyss, but I couldn't help myself. It was an irrasistable urge to get dancing bananas in pj's get involved in the nicknaming of new ferries. I'm sure a lot of guests out there are saying "What the hell is this??? Bananas in pajamas on a ferry forum?" Sorry folks, but again, I couldn't resist.
My opinion? Die Fähren deren Namen saugen. The ferries whose names suck. Coastal Insperation: C-ISP Coastal Celebration: C-CELEB Coastal Rennaissance: C-RENNY Coastal Serenity: C-SRN Spirit of Hartley Bay: SOHB Sonia (X): Son(Ex)

You guys all have the nickname thing under control, but I think I shall continue to crash the party as I feel I'm pretty experienced at it!
Haha... Bananas in pajamas.
All right... we have CR, CC and CI... I'm thinking of fruit names... the Rhubarb for the Renaissance... Celery (even rhymes!) for the Celebration (it's a veggie but who cares!) and the... er... In-applicable-to-fruits-anyway...
