Good idea... How does "Coastal Experience" sound? Then we could unofficially call these ships the "RICE class."

Good morning, you great Germans! Great lighting on all those modules taking shape for the COASTAL CELEBRATION. And, look what we have here: a tugboat joining the shipyard viewing party (more elaborately, us webcam viewers and that captain aboard that tug)! Great camera resolution!!

Well I seem to have missed out on a lot! Still, I'm looking forward to seeing these new vessels in action. If the Coastal Celebration cannot run through Active Pass then an alternative route will have to be arranged for her. (Perhaps through Boundary Pass?) The Coastal Celebration will be double ended, which saves time because there is no need to turn around, which means there's more time for an alternative route, however she may have to run a little faster than the Spirits and V's to remain on-schedule.

You sure have missed alot, welcome back! Plenty of new members and alot of other stuff When you mean missed alot, do you mean you missed the boat? (moving back to topic)
Why would a double ender have to run a little faster to remain on schedule to do the current route? The V's I have seen do the route in an average of 90 minutes along with the Spirits. Boundary Pass takes 4 hours to do at around 10 knots as we saw with the Queen of Vancouver. There is also no point in doing an alternative route since the Super Cs are designed for transit through Active Pass.

Oh, all right then. It's just that I thought that the Super Cs would not be designed like that. There was something that said they might not go through active pass due to what happened with the Alberni. Still, if they can do active pass then there's no need for a schedule change or a route change. I was just thinking about what would happen if they couldn't transit active pass successfully.

VERY BUSY AT FSG TODAY! A Main Deck middle structure module is being hoisted to the MV COASTAL CELEBRATION. Enroute. Being moved over into position. In position for lowering. Being lowered. While the structure is being seated, another module is being moved in the foreground. Both installed! This is wonderful shipbuilding choreography!!

Holy crow, no doubt about being behind the 8-ball!! (re-catching up on the threads!).
Although no substitute for reading the archival posts, quick synopsis.
C-class issue concerning maneuverability thru AP and the Mode-1 vs Mode-2 running condition on the props/engines - this has been engineered into the Coastals right from the design stage - there will be no undue restrictions on their operation thru AP.
Route-interoperability - Coastals were designed out of the box to be able to run on any of the major routes currently serving the South Coast. There may have been even more advance planning insofar as use on other routes as well, but at a very minimum they are "good to go" for 1, 2, 3, 30
