Just a note to the mods... Something on the forum today (I think it was one of the ads) was caught by my virus scanner as being a trojan. Not exactly sure what it was, but I was viewing an old thread about the ferry dock at Darrell Bay.

I do not like the categories for BC Ferries' in service vessels. This dislike is because:
1. "Spaulding" as a group is fairly arbitrary other than designer, and splits the major vessels up with some intermediates thrown in;
2. It is not new-user friendly; and
3. It is out of line with BC Ferries categorization of vessels. I appreciate that we do not need to follow this, but I still feel it is a valid point for discussion.
This isn't something I feel that strongly about, but in the presumed aim to have accessible information for people I think we have come up short here. Perhaps a partial solution would be listing the vessels of even classes which at least some people other than the hardcore have a clue about.

Outside of a few people on this forum, I don't think I've ever heard anyone refer to any BC Ferry as a 'Spaulding'. The term would be meaningless to most people looking in for the first time. I don't think it's the norm anywhere in the maritime world to refer to classes of vessels by their designer's name.

My suggestion would be to follow BC Ferries' classification system of Major, Intermediate, and Minor... Or to lump them all into one sub-board like it's set up in the WSF section.

How does this sound, for the current fleet page? - 1 sub-board for all ships (instead of the current 4 sub-boards) - 1 sub-board for all terminals. Easy to change, let me know if this sounds better.

I think we should make one separate sub board for terminals.
On your second point, Mike, too many sub boards can be too many, according to me at least. Perhaps you could change the Spaulding name to a more user friendly name like "BC Built Vessels"...? What do others think of that idea?

Simple. Sensible. Hey, I like this management team. I've updated the Historical-ships page too, in a similar fashion for the ex BCFerries ships. I'm still mulling over the non-BCF historical ships part. - I like having Canadian Pacific as a separate sub-board, but am still thinking about how to show the "others".

How hard would it be to have navigation at the bottom of the pages as well. Some of the pages are quite long, making it a pain to get around at times. Even a button to to the top of the page again would be a good start.

Even a button to to the top of the page again would be a good start. Clicking the 'home' button on the keyboard of your computer immediately bumps you to the top of the page. And if you want to see the bottom of the page, 'end' should bring you down there. That's what I do on the long pages.

How about something a little, actually much more visible?

How about something a little, actually much more visible? There is a Back to Top option on the bottom right of each post. However, there is no option available to allow you to move to the bottom of the thread on ProBoards. As was already mentioned, using Home and End on your keyboard will bring you to the top or bottom of the page, as well.

Another rash move by moderators, deleting new member 'cintabunda'. Now, none of us who are thinking of moving to Glasgow will have access to good information about kitchen installations. You guys have such a narrow focus.

I'm blaming this one on Scott, because he thought that Glasgow kitchens would take the focus off one Scott and put it on a different Scot. ;D
