Then we need a popup dialogue for the PM system so when you load a page after you receive a PM you will get the popup dialogue box so you know you have a PM. Also you can still select "Private" for e-mail to prevent people e-mailing you, but Pu"Public" setting using a contact form instead of just putting the e-mail address out for harvesters is in my opinion not good. That's why mine is private to prevent harvesting, I would have it public if a form was used to hide it from e-mail harvesters though.

I registered the domain and I pay for the webspace to host it. It's the summer and I'm really busy, so it isn't "coming out" soon.

Is there anyway to change the default colour scheme when you're logged off? Not that it matters, just wondering.

You have to be logged in to change skins. The only other way for the default to change, while logged off is for a staff member to change the default skin.

I think its time to add a new board to the forum so what i suggest, is we add a "ferry trips report" board so people can make a write up on there last ferry trip and also post photos from there trip, so they can tell other people what happened on there trip.

Why don't we expand the WSF section of the board into more categories, and bill this board as a general northwest or west coast ferries board, instead of specifically a BC Ferries board? Does WSF not have a big enough following?

This is the "ferries of british columbia", board to talk about bc ferries not to talk about "wasington state ferries" thats why im "making the ferries of wasington" state and alaska forum

re Personal Messages:
- some of the new members on this board likely don't know about the PM (personal messages) feature on this board. The bottom-right-hand-corner on the home page view shows your personal messages #. You can click on this to read your messages.
Some of us use these quite a bit, and the Moderators use this for their housekeeping work.
The PM screen also has an outbox, where you can see if a message that you've sent has been opened by the receiver.

Flugel, might I add if you want to know if you have received a PM, go into your inbox and click preferences. Below a place called "block users" there are two boxes. If you check the second one, you will get a pop-up when you receive a new PM.
In response to ferrynutseattle: I think we need a bit more activity on the Northwest, US Ferries section before we start doing sub boards. However, thanks for the suggestion anyways.
In response to Queen of Nananimo Teen: I would combine Ferry Travel Advice with voyage reports IMHO due to lack of activity in that peticular board.

A question about a place to post for East Coast US ferries. I would like to start compiling and posting photos and info for my area...New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware etc...and would like to know where the most appropriate place would be. I would assume if there is enough interest, a new board could be considered at a later date.
Thanks, Jon
PS My avatar is the RiverLink passenger ferry between Camden NJ, and Philly; the signature is the JFK on its run from Staten Island to New York City.

Thanks, Jon My recommendation to the moderators would be start a new non-BC Ferry discussion topic for 'US Ferries'. Alternatively 'Canadian Ferries' could be changed to 'North American Ferries', or 'Northwest US Ferries' could become simply 'US Ferries'. My preference is to keep 'Northwest US Ferries' separate as it is for discussion on our neighbouring ferry systems in Alaska and Washington. Thats is my 2-cents worth for consideration. Jim

Following Queen of Burnaby Teen's point, I really like the looks of those ferries! I can't wait to see some more photos! (hopefully there is alot more!)

European Ferries has now become "International Ferries."
I know there has been discussion about ferries in Asia, and other places in that board so I felt it was a suitable change.

1. There should be a seperate forum for trips; 2. There should be two threads for each trip, discussion of the trip and then a final thread that has all the needed information in the first post or[/i] the first post should be modified so that trips are easier to get information on.
Cheers

Generally they seem to start as X wants to go to A on S, but by the end Y and Z seems to be going to A and B on R. I generally don't care about the 50 posts that seperate the idea from the final agenda, and we're also really good at posting "Here's who's coming" with no substantive information about timings easily found. I just think it would make events easier to attend, as I am starting to ignore those posts. And I suggest seperate forum (or subforum) as group stuff seems to sorta pop up all over the place (notably Non-Ferries, and the general BCF one.)

I've got a request. I know the route numbers and the corresponding route descriptions have been posted before, but I was wondering if a thread could be created in the Rules, Reasons and Recommendations section with this info for reference. In addition, it would be cool if photos of the major terminals with a description of which berth is which could be posted. Might help me wrap my head around the significance of some of the closures and modifications.

Fortunately we've just created a new Q&A area for just such a reason, as a new Sub-Board in the General Discussion part of the forum. I'll work on a couple new threads to meet your request and post the link here once finished. Cheers, Graham
