Pink is chosen to calm inmates in prisons and for patients in hospitals for its calming effects. The breast cancer organizations are trying to brand pink for their cause. Or for Corning to make you choose their insulation. And soon the remake of the Pink Panther. And then good old Hubba Bubba. Actually to be more accurate it should have been Double Bubble with predated Hubba ;D

I think the new colours are a great design... even though I use a different skin myself, when I'm logged in, I might consider changing it to this new scheme now. It also provides a nice background for our picture of the Esquimalt this month.

There was a suggestion made on this forum earlier this month that we add some sub-boards to the Northwest US Ferries category of discussions. .... In the spirit of the above quote from John H. re the section devoted to the ferry systems of our neighbours.... I would like to suggest that you restore a separate section devoted to our maritime history. Currently all to do with Canadian Pacific's BC CSSS, Union Steamships, etc., has been buried in the section for discussion on 'Retired Ferries'. I think we can do better.

To date there has been no response to my request here. The moderators may feel that there is no need for a separate section. If so that is fine, but I would at least like to see a response. I also feel strongly that our maritime heritage is 'worth it'. JST aka WCK

I also feel strongly that our maritime heritage is 'worth it'. JST aka WCK 'In Their Wake - BC's Historic Ships' is a new board that was added for discussion of all aspects of our martime heritage. If you have any other further suggestions, please let us know..! Sorry to leave your question 'hanging', Jim.

I just noticed one small oversight with the latest round of updates... I really miss the direct link to search for recent posts that was always in the top right corner of the page before.

I updated the PM Bar so people can see the clock. The old one made it so there were 2 or more links on the same page. With the update the same search options are available but with less buttons leading to them.

How about attachments. This would be extremely useful for ship tracking, web cam, or BCF site screenshots. With "free image hosting" there are bandwidth limits and images disappear over time. With attachments, the images would stay permanently. I got loads of other ideas but I wanted to get this one out first.

Isn't that an idea for Proboards rather than for this forum's staff?

My mistake. I see attatchments are an option for Proboards, but to use it to any extent would require a fee.

Since my post seems to have been deleted, I'm taking my business here.
I'd like to reply in regards to the recent announcement of Guest posters no longer allowed to post.
Wouldn't this give guests an excuse to register for accounts that are unnecessary/inappropriate, and make posts that are of those same qualities?
Not that it's a bad idea or something, but I'm just you know.... throwing it out there...

Right now we're also screening all applications so we're covering both bases.

Wow - you guys are quick and smart - then I only have one last thing to say: Keep up the good work......and nights like Saturday had LOTS of behind-the-scenes work. It was quite a night for "pest control" and we "took no prisoners".

Good things get done fast when you have 2 ex-Proboard forum admins on the team who know ProBoards really well.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having trouble with the forum display. On the computer I'm using right now, the forum seems to have lost the size restrictions that prevent horizontal scrolling. It's only in the most recent post history section, but the posts are going way off the screen for me.

I was simply going to ask how our most WSF-informed guest poster "In Washington" was getting through the screen. Not that I object--in fact, I was afraid he/she would leave if unable to post.

Depending on how old the monitor is adjusting these accordingly should resolve the issue. I was simply going to ask how our most WSF-informed guest poster "In Washington" was getting through the screen. Not that I object--in fact, I was afraid he/she would leave if unable to post. Forum staff decided not to ban guest posting in the WSF topic as we didn't feel the spammer would attack that board (shhhh... ). We hope to have guest posting available on all topics soon. We are waiting confirmation from the spammers ISP telling us that he has been dealt with.

Okay, this has always been a pet peeve of mine, and maybe there a reason for it, or a setting to change, but is there a way to set a thread to open to the most recent page instead of the first page when you click on the thread (without having to click on the little page number underneath, which I seem only capable of doing about half the time )? Just wondering.....

Why do we have this thread?
Wouldn't it serve better if every question and suggestion were to stand out in its own separate thread, since traffic is so low here anyways?

Why do we have this thread? Wouldn't it serve better if every question and suggestion were to stand out in its own separate thread, since traffic is so low here anyways? You sort of answered your own question, Ruddernut. Because of the lack of traffic in this thread, we have a single topic dedicated to all standard suggestions and questions. This helps to keep all suggestions orderly, and to allow newcomers to see what has already been asked in a more easy-to-read form. If you have suggestions that you feel are urgent, by all means create a separate thread and title it appropriately.

With separate threads, newcomers could just browse through the index and look at the thread titles to find the topics they're looking for, instead of combing through a megathread with every subject bunched together.

In our experience a lot of new members do not bother to browse old topics that are not always in current discussion. However, we find they will browse through pages of a topic that has had recent discussion.

That was the case when there was a lot more traffic, and threads would drop off the first page more quickly, right? Likewise, reading through a big, long thread all at once is rather overwhelming, don't you think?
