Someone should leak a document to Carol James, NDP leader, that says that BC Ferries has been sold to Canadian SteamShip Lines (Paul Martin's company).

Then we can chuckle as we watch Carol run to the press with the scoop, without thinking to check the details.

Or maybe that BC Ferries has been sold to Disney CruiseLines?

Truly, we need to think about BCF's mission .. as old WAC Bennett did.

Are the ferries a political football? Should BCF and its magnificent fleet be a profit centre, or a public service?

How much does BC Ferries contribute to British Columbia in tourist income? In commercial traffic?

I do not know, and neither does the Fraser Institute.

I do know this: the big white boats are a symbol of coastal British Columbia to folks around the world.

We taxpayers of BC must recognize what BCF costs us; and balance that against the safe, friendly, all-weather service our big white boats provide. Oh yeah.
