Something I've been wanting to try for a while now, just for fun. I've tried to assign various ranks to individual forum members, based on what we've been told a run of the mill BCFerries crew compliment looks like. Anyway, I've tried to match up the names and ranks as evenly as possible based on expressed interests, aptitudes and opinions of various members. If you like your rank, keep it, post it in your header text, feel free to wear insignia on forum trips and expect other members to take orders from you... If not, maybe trade it with someone else. Here is the ship's current crew complement. Commodore of the Fleet: John H. Senior Captain: Barnacle Captain: Chris Chief officer: Scott. 1 st officer: Evergreenfleet. 2 nd officer: Karl 3 rd officer: Airchime 4 th officer: Neil Chief Steward (Purser): Flugel Horn. 2nd Steward: Cruise Director: Ian Sr. Chief Engineer:Chief Engineer: Nick 1st Engineer: Quatchi 2nd Engineer: Alex 3rd Engineer: BCRailcndr Deck Engineer: Mirrlees Assistant Engineer: Ferrytraveller Engine Room Assistant: Queen of Esquimalt Bosun (Master at Arms - I know they don't have these on BCFerries, but I wanted to have the rank .): Mill Bay Ship's carpenter (Chippy) - D'Elete BC in NJ Donkeyman - timmyboy ordinary seaman: SC Commuter , C.Cassidy efficient deck hand: Coastal Skier, NewFlyer able bodied seaman: Hardy, Doug Quartermaster (bridge watchman/deckhand): Ship-Rider 16, Donella, Queen of Nanaimo Teen, Dane, Hullnumbers, Luke watchkeeping mate: Wet Coast Kid, Orcasnative HAL - Artificial intelligence computer thingy (Fenk, 9000): Fenklebaum I'm sure we can always use a few more deckhands if I left any regular forum members out, or we may need to start a second watch for the crew change.

I'll Take The Position of the Guy who readies the anchors and watches for stuff when a Ferry goes through active pass.
Who does that job and what's is the position called anyways? Is it a Deckhand job? Help me out here.

This is great. I have already changed my personal text to reflect my cool new job.
When can I apply for a promotion though. ;D
May I suggest we are the crew on the "Queen of Richmond"
Cheers,

According to US Border Services and Customs and a few Senators, Canada accepts terrorists so that can't be it. Maybe you have to be on a Canadian citizen though to qualify. Come to think of it maybe a resident of BC. Cause two easterners are not on the list either lol.

We should probably have some catering staff too......
Can you cook, Dan?
What about the 1st Officer, Mr. Evergreenfleet? Maybe we got some kind of waiver for him....

To me its obvious you have to be an adult if you are an American, duh. How are you going to get across the border every day there Dan if you need a guardian with you. It just makes sense to me. ;D Cheers,

So I am automatically ineligable just because I am across the border? *sigh* I guess I will have to do something no one wants and support a union between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. (j/k)

(j/k) free borders like in europe! i would love it! i also notice i am not included but i think i know the reason for that. if i was on the crew either myself or someone else would probably get to know how the man overboard procedures work from the water end.

I do not want to work in the engine room shoveling coal into the boilers. That work is hot, dirty, sweaty, & noisy. My hearing is already shot; I do not wish for it to get worse. That job would be perfect for some young guy - maybe Dan!
As for me, mark me down as the ship's bar tender.

If it is true that there are way more mangers to employees then anyone that didn't make the crew list should just become a manager! ;D

I'm the Captain!
Woot! I don't have to blow $20,000 at Maritime school, and 40 years of my life down the drain!
Attention everyone on the outer decks, the ships whistle is about to sound.
*10 second horn
Attention everyone on the outer decks, the whistle is about to sound again because there is a pleasure craft in our way
*15 second horn blast
Attention everyone on the outer decks, the ships whistle is about to sound because I'm bored now!
*Plays jingle bells with the horn
Attention everyone on the outer decks......

Sorry... I wasn't sure where to put Barnacle... what kind of experience does he have?
Ship-Rider 16 will be another bridge watchman/deckhand.
Coastal Maniac 101 is an ordinary seaman, pending a psychiatric evaluation.

I was thinking that myself, but wasn't sure who to use. A bosun or Boatswain's Mate is a a lower grade of officer and is essentially a master seaman. The person on a ship who can do anything and everything. Actually, it seems that a bosun can also be the same as a master at arms, only with a broader range of capabilities and duties, so maybe we do already have a bosun ;D.

Update to add Doug to the crew roster as able bodied seaman, and to put Chris on notice that we're re-evaluating his masters' license after several navigational errors locating the beach at Departure Bay... ;D.
