NEW BUS SERVICE CONNECTS NANAIMO AND YVR VIA BC FERRIESVICTORIA – BC Ferries and Pacific Coach are pleased to announce the launch of a regularly scheduled bus service connecting Nanaimo to Vancouver International Airport (YVR) via BC Ferries’ Duke Point – Tsawwassen route. Pacific Coach will provide passenger bus service on four sailings per day from both Duke Point and Tsawwassen terminals Thursday through Monday. The introductory rate for this new service is $39 each way, including ferry fare. “BC Ferries and Pacific Coach are teaming up to provide convenient, direct passenger transportation between Nanaimo and YVR,” said Dan Wong, BC Ferries’ Vice President of Corporate Development. “Currently, Nanaimo area residents either fly to YVR or take their own vehicle to the international airport,” said Darian Tooley, Pacific Coach’s Director of Sales and Marketing. “We are proud to offer an affordable, environmentally-friendly alternative on a comfortable coach.” Pick-up and drop-off locations in Nanaimo are at the Woodgrove Centre, Country Club Centre and Prideaux bus exchanges. On the Metro Vancouver side, passengers can join the Pacific Coach buses at YVR and travel directly to BC Ferries’ Tsawwassen terminal. Notwithstanding PCL service, I'm still waiting for the RDN to start providing transit service to Duke Point.

Hardy: I talked to one of the drivers today doing the run, and the cost is $14.50. As for whoever e-mailed you, it was the wrong info.

In any case this is great news, until BC Transit's Nanaimo Regional Transit System gets their act together and services their other major terminal, and cheap compared to a cab which costs about $40 only to downtown or about $20 dollars to connect with transit at South Parkway Plaza along with major transfer layovers waiting for the cab and the bus in the latter case.
