With the recent graphical upgrades to the forum we have had to implement new signature pic size restrictions.700 x 200 is the new maximum size restriction. We will have a one-week grace period ending Tuesday, September 9th at 9:00 PM until this will go into effect. Please update your signatures accordingly. Note - this restriction does not apply to images posted to the forum or submissions for Forum Flagship. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Just out of curiousity...
What's the reasoning behind this? To me, the signature size doesn't seem to affect anything. But maybe that's due to the moniter I have, which has a wide resolution.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for what tools to use to make pics fit that exact dimension? Because before I was just simply cropping a picture, and just making sure photobucket would shrink it down to 800 pixels wide. But I don't think that there's any automatic ways of shrinking it to 700 pixels.
EDIT: Sorry, I must be really tired at the moment. I just figured out how to edit an already uploaded photo on photobucket, which shrunk it down to 700 pixels wide with the "resize" tool.

and there's no point in restricting signature-pictures only.....so I think it's obvious that the 200px & 700px limits refer to the entire signature area, not just the picture.
Otherwise this wouldn't be the end of the post.

Sorry for the delay on this response.
Depending on each individuals screen resolution, photo threads might be stretched width wise compared to those topics which are just typed discussion. With the graphical upgrades, specifically the centering of the forum, this has caused us to enact a reduction in signature image size width to 700 from 800.
I would also like to mention that staff are going to start cracking down on signatures in their entirety that are too big - that's image combined with text.
As a general rule, if you already have an image that is of maximum or near maximum dimensions we ask that you do not add more than three lines of text (standard text size) .
Thank you for your co-operation.

We are now beginning the process of removing signatures in excess of 700 pixels.
If you require assistance to reduce your signature image, please PM any staff member.
