Safe voyage to Nothern Expedition. Looking forward to following her progress. Might I assume, that you "redwife" are in some way affiliated to somebody from RedWise on board the NorEx - is it somebody from GreatBritain ;-) ?

I was in a loooooong boooooring meeting this morning. Blah blah and more blah. Did I say long and boring? I would have been okay if I could have sat somewhere where my screen wasn't visible on my laptop and at least have watched the NorEx depart . I suggested next time they just call me if something comes up, unless of course the other company will pay my hourly consulting fee. How rude to interupt the NorEx departure - but I didn't voice that part . Great screen captures, pics and commentary from all. Markus, everyone at FSG should be very proud, that is one fine looking ship.

Thanks, Mr. Brinkman and yardobserver, for posting those fantastic photos of Norex's departure, and also the continual photo coverage of her being built and fitted out. She truly is a magnificent ship! Kudos to your work and FSG! Now I really hope BC Ferries will hold an open house for her somewhere in the lower mainland/south coast area - can't wait to see her in person!

And BCF has issued a press release about the NorEx. Nothing we don't already know, but there are a few photos included in the PDF. NEW NORTHERN VESSEL NOW EN ROUTE TO B.C. The MV Northern Expedition arrives in early March and will be in service late spring VICTORIA – BC Ferries is pleased to announce its brand new northern vessel, the Northern Expedition, is now underway for Canada. The ship departed FSG Shipyards in Flensburg, Germany this morning bound for its new home in British Columbia. The voyage from Europe to Canada via the Panama Canal is expected to take approximately 35 days depending on weather. Customers will be able to watch the Northern Expedition’s progress including its course, position and speed from a link on BC Ferries’ homepage at www.bcferries.com/about/northern_expedition_tracker.html“FSG Shipyards has produced another fine vessel of quality construction for our customers, which is both on-time and on-budget” said David L. Hahn, BC Ferries’ President and CEO. “This new ferry offers a cruise-like experience and, coupled with the Northern Adventure which we introduced in 2007, will greatly enhance customer service on our northern routes. Together they’ll offer tourists and locals alike an unprecedented and reliable travel experience.” The 150-metre cruise-ferry boasts 55 modern staterooms, and will accommodate 600 passengers and 130 vehicles. Spacious passenger areas such as the Canoe Café, Vista Restaurant and the Raven and Aurora Lounges will offer customers plenty of comfort as they take in the beautiful north coast scenery during their voyage. The Northern Expedition will commence service on BC Ferries’ Inside Passage route sailing between Port Hardy and Prince Rupert mid-May in time for the busy summer season. For full schedule details and reservations for this brand new vessel, visit www.bcferries.com. www.bcferries.com/bcferries/faces/attachments?id=85943

You Can Now Watch the Handover of the Northern Expedition on FSG's Site. Note: I'm finding the large video feed stops at one point in the video even though the video is fully loaded, try using the small video feed if this occurs.

We now have the NE's temporary MMSI and callsign for her delivery voyage: 376301000, J8B4038. The three zeroes at the end of her MMSI indicate Inmarsat capability.

Thank you all for your hard work in documenting her travel to BC. Some of the images I`m seeing with the webcams are quite stunning, and were timed perfectly for a photo even.
I`m also happy to see Captain Bouchard in the FSG video, who some of our forum members had the opportunity to meet on a Forum trip on the Queen of Prince Rupert a few months ago.
I look forward to seeing her in person, and maybe even seeing her arrive in Departure Bay. Maybe one day I`ll be able to be crewed aboard her once I finish my training this spring.

Hi, some pics I made today: near Holnis In the afternoon the weather conditions in Kiel are good, but she did some unexpected trials. So the arrival in Kiel was very late at 5pm. I hate that! Best wishes Achim
