Woo Hoo! This delivery-thread has now been baptized with its first "Claim / Denial / Counter-Claim". We all knew that it was going to happen, just a matter of figuring out when ;D I can't wait for a variation of the forum's classic " Y vs. T" claim/denial/counter-claim to come up on this thread too. We really should have betting pools for these types of things. Fun diversions during the long cruise....kind of like us kids playing a board-game to pass the time. And one more thing: I've booked The Tragically Hip to make their customary appearance on this delivery-thread, at the customary place.... ;D Does not.. Does so.. Does not.. Does so.. Good grief.. Will you guys knock it off? Ferrynut and I are enjoying a quiet pint on the outer deck.. I can hear the Master saying, "don't make me turn this ferry around!" Those must be bottomless pints.

I can't wait for a variation of the forum's classic " Y vs. T" claim/denial/counter-claim to come up on this thread too. Y vs. T? Anderton Road intersection discussion, from a few weeks back: Classic "no it's not" type of miscommunication. You and Paul were pretty close in your descriptions, and knew what each other meant, but instead the focus was that it was not correct, as opposed to seeing that you were close in your descriptions. It struck me as interesting, because of the quick "no" and no searching to consider what the other person meant. (I was only interested, because I enjoy seeing how miscommunications develop, and this seemed to be classic). Y vs T. Pretty close when you think about it, but if one party just says the other is wrong, you don't realize how close the two parties actually were in their interpretation. (yeah, it's a pet peeve of mine......).

Wow! That is a lot of grog. The trip will be like one of the coast fogs, all hazy, if you go through all of that .

...And, it's time to start singing "BLOW THE MAN DOWN". www.contemplator.com/sea/blowdown.htmlCan't really say this to the folks on the bridge of the NE. Her bridge is all enclosed and, if I'm not mistaking, heated. Big difference compared to conditions aboard those windjammers of years ago.

It's got to be heated, if not for the crew, then for the sensitive electronic equipment located there.
Plus there is no way that BCFS crews are going to be using a bridge that is not heated, especially this time of year.

Within the English Channel's traffic seperation scheme where it crosses the Prime Meridan is an automated lightship which marks the southwestern end of the Dover section of the Traffic Seperation Scheme. The lightship is not manned but has a whte light visible for about 20 miles. The vessel is painted bright red. This is a lightship? I never knew that.

Ferrynut and I are enjoying a quiet pint on the outer deck.. Paul: What kind of beer did you order for this voyage? Last time you were getting Markus to sneak us some Pilsner. Do you think he may have sent us some Dunkelweizen this time?

She is now crossing the Bay of Biscay at about 15 knots. She is having a "bad Monday" as winds are E 27 to 32 with 10 to 11 foot seas with a long swell. Definately not a time to be outside on the aft deck. Well then, looks like she'll be tested in heavy seas.

Question for AppLocation: How come the NE's fixes have become intermittent? Spotty coverage?
If it's because AppLocation is deliberately withholding some fixes from the tracker, that's sort of ineffective, as I can restore those lost fixes via interpolation.

And the thing is, the IMO really frowns upon AIS data being published on the WWW, for reasons of security.

Wow, she's just flying through the Bay of Biscay!
Question for ya'll. Why is she going all the way to the Canaries to make her crossing. Wouldn't going via the Azores be more direct? Is it trade winds or something like that?

No. She only has enough fuel and stores on board to get herself to the Canary Islands, which is where her first resupply point is.
Now halfway across the Bay of Biscay, continuing SSW at 15 knots.
