Ah, good. She's docked. Faster than I thought. And PK, she's not that far into the dock. She's a bit closer to the far end of it.

The NE docked in Las Palmas at 6 days 17h51m VET. Here's the full track log of the completed first leg of the NE's delivery voyage: Total distance travelled so far is 2099 nautical miles. The NE's overall average speed over that distance was 12.97 knots.

So.... how long does this stop over last?
I thought the connection to the Canaries might be the longest open water ferry route in the world, but I was wrong. UK to Norway and Japan to Okinawa seem a little bit longer.
In any case, it would be a fun trip. 48 hours on a cruise ferry... I'd do that.

It will probably only last about twelve hours.

All OK . Ship fine in rough weather. Leaving in about two hours. Next stop dependent on fuel consumption and that depends on weather .

Captured this from a different Pozo Inquierdo cam. The one PK listed was out.

Final capture. I could barely see her on this image as she was far out. After saving this rather small image, I used the zoom feature on my picture viewer to print screen and paste on my paint program. On that, I added the arrow. With that, best wishes to the MV NORTHERN EXPEDITION and your crew on your trans-Atlantic crossing. See you in Panama!

And she's checked out. WSW at 13 knots. To avoid a mid-Atlantic course correction, the NE should now set a course of 253° true to enter the Caribbean Sea between Martinique and Dominica, and stay on that course through the Caribbean Sea for an optimum approach to Cristóbal. The next mark event will be the NE's crossing of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

While the NORTHERN EXPEDITION is now on the Atlantic and crossing over to Panama, let us not forget what FSG is currently doing. Building more beautiful RoRo ships! With the passenger shipbuilding "temporarily out of the way", FSG is concentrating on the building of magnificent freighters. Modular shipbuilding is fun to watch! Watching delivery voyages are equally fun!

Great! ;D The autopilot works! Cool! You've got a flight simmer who flies using the autopilot! It takes work in setting up the flight planner and loading the right amount of fuel. The taxiing is done manually as well as the takeoffs and landings (the last few hundred feet, that is). Flap setting is done manually as well. Then, on the runway, I turn on the auto throttle. After getting airborne, I turn on the autopilot. And, when I join the track and reach flight level, the plane flies herself. My climbs and descents are set manually. My landings on airliners are usually done with the ILS. So, up and down I go on my flight sim. Up and down goes the bow aboard the NORTHERN EXPEDITION. Her navigators are seeing this for the next long week or so of this mighty trans Atlantic sailing. I said it before and I'll say it again: We'll leave the taking of seasick pills to those who'll need them! ;D

NE's midnight fix tonight (or more specifically, 00:04 PST / 08:04 UTC) was N26.489 W18.8.
Oh, and here in Canada, we call them Gravol.

I have amended Reply #173 of this thread with a sequential still video of the NORTHERN EXPEDITION passing Pozo Inquierdo. "Sequential still video"? That's the term NASA uses. ;D

We'll be seeing sequential still video a bit on the next Shuttle Flight, STS119, OV DISCOVERY. This is in lieu of certain full television coverage areas the shuttle and the space station orbit through. She is due to deliver the S6 Truss segment to Space Station ALPHA. Once installed, ALPHA will be orbiting with an "even keel" as her "wingspan" will be even on both sides (and, my model replica as well). Will be fun to watch on NASA TV. We'll be seeing a lot of sequential still video as the NORTHERN EXPEDITION passes through the Panama Canal. I think I'm turning into a Rob Navias on sequential still videos! ;D "GUIDANCE NOW CONVERGING"

Ferrynut you're falling a bit behind w/ your 747 flight. How about taking your 747 for a view of the Panama, then up the Pacific. Maybe include a Flight heading North up the Pacific, & eventually going up North to where her new Home will be? Also I want to Thank You for your excellent Flight Sim Graphics!
